At Space Station Liberty, the SDF-3 Pioneer was set to launch with its task force of ships and fighters towards Earth to get rid of the Regis and her Invid occupation force. While waiting for the SDF-3 to space fold, Minmei walked down to the hanger and ignored that every time her left foot hit the floor a metallic ringing would sound. She saw her good friend Janice Em working on two of the fighters.
"Minmei, are you ready for this?" Janice asked.
"I never thought I would be a Veritech pilot," Minmei said. "And definitely not a Vindicator pilot."
"You didn't think you'd lose your left leg from just above the knee or your right hand either," Janice countered.
"One good thing about my REF uniform, it covers the entire body and conceals the cyborg parts that Rem made for me from some of your spare parts," Minmei said with a smile and clenched her right fist absently. "How are you doing after transferring from for your old body?"
"Better after confirming that Edwards is dead. By the way Minmei, have you thought about that offer?" Janice asked.
"I'm still debating on that and then there is Rem," Minmei said.
"Attention! All personell, prepare for space fold!" came from the speakers.
"Well, you had better get to your fighter," Janice said.
Minmei nodded and headed to dark grey Vindicator. Unlike a lot of the people that she knew from the SDF-1, Minmei had not aged all that much thanks to some nonsense dealing with a failed time travel attempt using a black hole that Rem had initiated. She boarded the vehicle that looked like and overlarge Alpha fighter and waited. As the space fold commenced, Minmei felt the fold was off for some reason. Forcing her eyes open, she saw that gold energies were clashing with silver energies.
"That's just great!" Minmei thought. "Something has gone wrong!"
Indeed something had. Unlike the other ships in the REF fleet, the SDF-3 carried a hydroponics garden with Flowers of Life and Pollinators and near the garden was a swirling matrix of silver-blue energy. It was a new protoculture matrix. However, the SDF-3 had never folded with the matrix on board before now and was still using the old protoculture from the SDF-1. The two energies were not that compatibale, even though they were both protoculture energies. As the ship folded, time seemed to warp and sent it to another universe. A universe simmilar to the Robotech universe, but differing in some major ways. It was a world where the the commander of the SDF-1 was Bruno Global and not Henry Gloval. It was a Macross universe.
