Macross/SDF-3 Pioneer: Pioneer meet City 7 [Episode 182542]

by Disruptor

As the Pioneer appeared in the universe, Rem frantically looked over his data. He looked to Cabell and grimaced.

"We should have purged the SDF-3 of all the old protoculture before we brought the matrix on board," Rem said. "The only good thing is that Space Station Liberty and other places have spare matrices."

"What's the verdict?" Cabell said.

"We're in another universe."

"We'll have to work on a way to get back to our universe," Cabell said. "I'll sent the report up to Lang and he can break the news."

While that was going on, Rick Hunter blinked as he saw what looked like a floating city in the middle of space on the monitor.

"Report! Where are we?" Rick ordered.

One of the bridge officers looked at Rick and replied. "I'm not sure. We space folded, but this isn't anywhere near Earth. "

The phone line that connected the bridge to other parts of the ship rang and Rick stared at it.

"I hope we haven't lost our fold drive. Once was bad enough," Rick mumbled, as he picked up the phone.

"Hunter, here. What is it Lang?" Rick asked.

Rick listened to the phone for a few moments.

"All right. Get all the old protoculture out of the engines and into the veritech storage areas and replace it with the new stuff," Rick orderd. "Get as many people on it as possible. I want those engines purged and running as soon as possible."

Rick sighed and slowly hung up the phone.

"Admiral? What's going on?"

"We still have our fold drive. We just folded into another universe," Rick replied. "Contact that city and see if they need help and see if we can figure out what this universe is like and maybe find a way home."

"Opening hailing frequencies."

"This is the SDF-3 Pioneer of the Robotech Expeditionary Force. I am Admiral Rick Hunter. Are you of any need of assistance?"

A female voice sounding very familiar to Rick came back. "SDF-3? The SDF line was discontinued after the SDF-2 Megaload launched."

"We had a misfold and wound up in this universe," Rick said hesitantly. "I repeat, are you in any need of assistance?"

"Our fold drive was destroyed and we are without one," the female voice said.

"I can't call you 'hey you' all the time. What can I call you?" Rick said with a smile.

"I am Mayor Jenius of City Seven."

"Well, Mayor Jenius. I'll send over one of our tech boys and I think we have a back up fold drive on one of the ships," Rick said.

"Be careful. City Seven has been infiltrated by some enemy forces," Mayor Jenius replied.

"I'd send over the 15th Tactical, but I don't think you'd appreciate our craft in your city," Rick said.

"It's too bad that you can't contact Battle Seven and get them over here," Mayor Jenius said.

"Why can't we?" Rick asked.

"We were forcefully folded away from the rest of our fleet and we've been having a hard time contacting them. Can't you fold?" Mayor Jenius asked.

"We have to cleanse, refuel, and recalibrate our fold engines. At most, it will take six hours to fix," Rick replied.

"You're better off than we are. It's going to take us at least a week to fix our fold engines," Mayor Jenius replied. "Hold off on sending your person until you get your fold drives fixed. Apparently you can fleet fold. We'll hitch a ride with you to Battle Seven."

"Very well. Hunter out!"

"Jenius out!"

Back in the Robotech universe, Scott Benard sighed as he looked at the remnants of the REF ships. A shadow blocked the sun for a moment and a red haired woman landed next to him.

"Ariel, it's good to see you. I wish I had better luck on finding a ship," Scott said.

"I'm here to help you. After I regained my knowledge of being an Invid, I regained my other knowledge as well," Ariel said.

"Such as?"

"Do you recall the Genesis Pit that you, Rand and Annie destroyed?" Ariel asked.

"Yes. What of it?" Scott asked slowly.

"I believe that it might still be functional and can produce one item for us. I have the feeling we'll need Sera and Lancer to find the SDF-3," Ariel replied.

"What good is one itme?" Scott asked.

Ariel gave Scott a smile. "It depends on the item. I believe that within a week's time that that Genesis Pit can construct a new spaceship that can find the SDF-3. A new SDF with all the improvements that can be added, such as a shadow stealth field and a protoculture factory as well."

"There are no Flowers of Life left on Earth," Scott objected.

"Not quite true. There are some seeds in some of the remaining craft and I found a Pollinator couple as well. The female is about to give birth," Ariel replied.

Protoculture?"

"We don't have a matrix, but it can be done. I'd like to bring Rand and Rook with us and maybe Lunk. However, Lunk is probably going to stay behind, so we'll need some sort of mechanic and a scientist as well."

"True. Lunk wants to be a farmer," Scott said. "Too bad you can't get the Invid Brain to load itself on the ship and act as the main maintence tech and use some of the Regent's inorganics."

Ariel snapped her fingers. "I forgot all about those stupid things. Some of those would work perfectly. We'll still need a scientist to help create a new matrix/ So, what do you wnat to call the new SDF-4?"

Scott plucked a four-leaf clover from the ground and handed it to Ariel. "Shamrock. We need all the luck we can get."

"I'm not too fond for green as a ship color, but a light blue craft with forest green highlights seems doable," Ariel said smiling, as she took tha shamrock.
