Lina sighed, as she searched through some ruins. Lina had left Naga back in Steindorf's lair, after Naga had blown a hole through the dome.
"I wonder how long it'll be before I see her again. I thought I got rid of her last time, but she keeps showing up," Lina muttered to herself. 'There is supposed to be two weapons buried here that weren't used in the Dark Resurrection War. One was a sword, but I'm not sure what the other was."
The just turned fourteen-year-old mage sighed, as she picked her way through the ruins. She hesitated and used her mage sense to feel.
"There is something powerful nearby," Lina whispered.
Lina used her mage sense as radar to home in on the source of power. She entered a room that had magical symbols done in gold leaf. An altar made out of black and white striped marble was in the center of the room. On the altar were lying three things: a lavender sword, a book, and a thick rod with a globe at one end. In awe, Lina walked over to the altar and picked up the sword.
"This must be the sword that was mentioned in the legends: the Blast Blade. The rod must be the other weapon. I wonder what it does," Lina whispered.
Lina carefully lay the Blast Blade back down on the table and looked at the book. She closed one eye and gave the tome an odd look. Shrugging, she opened the book and read the first few pages.
"Okay. This isn't a Claire Bible manuscript," Lina said to herself with some amusement. "It's just the tome telling about the two weapons."
Lina read the entry about the Blast Blade and frowned. "The sword is too sharp to be kept in a sheath and its sharpness makes it too dangerous to carry around. A pity, it could have been useful."
Lina sighed and read the entry for the wand. Her face contorted in surprise as to why the wand wasn't used. She pulled a coin out and closed the book. There was still about a two-thirds of the book left to read.
"They needed a girl who was really good with magic who was about thirteen or fourteen to activate the rod. While using it, a person can't use any Black Magic, however White and Shamanistic magic would be increased. Interesting, this also gives a way to carry the Blast Blade without it being a threat to all around."
Lina put the book down and picked the rod up and smiled. "I qualify. I just turned fourteen two weeks ago. To activate it I have to recite the chant. Magic Crystal Power! Make Up!"
The rod glowed and vanished. Lina felt her clothing turn to energy around her, as she twirled in place. She stopped twirling and stood with both fists clenched to her side and standing like she was read for all comers. Instead of her mage outfit, she was wearing a pink bodysuit that left her arms and legs bare. A white skirt was attached at the waist. Calf high go-go boots were on her legs and white gloves covered her forearms and hands.
"For love and justice, I am the beautiful sailor solider: Sailor Magic!" Lina declared.
"What the hell did I just say," Lina muttered and then took a look at herself. "What am I wearing?!"
Lina quickly grabbed the book up and started reading what was after where she placed the coin. Her left hand accidentally brushed the hilt of the Blast Blade and it vanished into Sailor Magic's subspace pocket. Lina frantically read what was written.
"No! I have to be a warrior of love and justice! I'll be able to sense Mazoku and if they are harming humans, I have to fight them!" Lina whispered in horror. "This isn't what I wanted!"
Lina saw that the rest of the book was instructions on using the powers of Sailor Magic. Lina was about to change back, when Naga came into the room.
"HOHOHOHOHOHO. Did you really think you could get away from Naga the Serpent my junior business partner?" Naga declared, before she saw Lina.
Lina blushed and was about to say something, when Naga looked around in confusion. "Excuse me miss, but have you seen a short, small breasted young sorceress?"
"Er?" Lina was a bit taken aback by the question, but bluffed her way through. "Um. No. I think that is was her that I saw heading towards the town of Pan."
"Thank you. I'd better catch up with her, before she cheats me out of my rightful share of any treasure," Naga said, and then took off running and laughing.
'Why didn't Naga recognize me?' Lina thought and flipped through the book on her powers. 'Oh, I have something called a disguise field up. It prevents people from recognizing me, unless I transform right in front of them.'
Lina sat down on the altar and hugged her knees to her chest.
"I'm stuck with this power. If I can't handle dealing with Mazoku as myself, I'll be compelled to transform into Sailor Magic and deal with it. I hate pink," Lina muttered to herself.
Sailor Magic quickly read the bit on the subspace pocket and banished the book there and then detransformed into plain old Lina Inverse. Lina took a disgusted look at the transformation rod and sighed.
"This teaches me to read all of a book about a magic item first."
