Why not simply avoid it all together?

"'Cause of several reasons. First off, even if I'd rather it never happened, I do gotta admit that I got a whole lot faster after it. And there is one important thing ta remember."

What is that?

"If this doesn't work out, my old man'll go for somethin' else, and that somethin' might just get even more dangerous."

That is a possibility. It is good that you thought of it.

"Thanks for the compliment. If nothin' else, the mistakes of when we tried ta change stuff before showed that I've gotta take it where I can," the pigtailed boy replied, "So I figure that I've gotta do only some small stuff."

Such as changing how this turns out.

"'Xactly. Now, the only problem's how we should change it."

There are many possibilities...

"Yeah..," Ranma admitted. "But I've got an idea."

What would it be?

"Simple. I wanna make it so that:

• I get outta this without havin' ta get ta the level with the whole thinkin I'm a... ya know, one of them."
• instead of goin' crazy and thinkin' I'm a... ya know, I'll get ta become somethin' like 'em."
• it works out so that I get the whole speed and agility stuff, without havin' ta worry 'bout the rest."
• I'd get a more friendly relationship with those... ya know, animals in the pit."
• I get all the powers, but none of the fear."
• somethin' else happens."
