"'Bodyguard'?"
"Why yes. From now one, she'll consider it to be a priority to protect you from harm. When she's not doing that, she'll be a wonderful pet for you to have."
"H... h..How? Why?"
"I did show you the sign."
"B...but..."
"You don't want me Master?" asked Motoko with sadness clear in her voice.
"No. No. It isn't that! It's just that I... never expected this..."
Marilyn nodded happily. "Well then, it's a good surprise."
"I suppose you could say that..."
"You see, everyone wins," the shop worker said as she pressed the leash into his hands.
