With a jerk, Asuka awoke, then relaxed, and dropped back into bed, staring up at the ceiling as she let her breathing and heartbeat slow.

"Wh-What brought that on?" she whispered to herself. Thinking back to what she could recall of her dream, her cheeks colored at the recollection of Shinji astride a giant floating banana, offering her a ride. Then she shook her head. "Sometimes a banana is just a banana." Taking a deep breath, she pushed aside her blanket and stood up.

Asuka paused at the door to Shinji's room. Glancing about furtively, she carefully turned the knob and opened it a sliver. Peeking through the crack, she saw her fellow pilot lying in his bed, his eyes closed and his breathing regular. Taking a quick breath, Asuka pushed the door open and crept inside.

'Why the hell am I doing this?' she thought to herself as she snuck across the floor to where Shinji lay. 'I just want to look at his face and reassure myself that he's as unattractive as he's always been.' She looked down, tracing the lines of his face as he lay there. 'Hmm, kinda cute expression when he's sleeping. . . AK! Well he's so much less mature than Kaji. . .' She shook her head, took a step back and looked down at Shinji again.

'Huh?' she thought as her eyes spotted the blanket tenting further down. She blinked and looked closer. 'What's. . . Oh yeah, that. . .' Her cheeks flushed. Then she blinked and looked again. 'But I thought Shinji was a lot smaller than that. . . Though I think I heard something about it growing these years, and varying in size. . .' It seemed to grow, and she realized she had taken a step forward. 'Akk! No, I'm not interested! not curious!'
