"Not what she want. All her life been about being girl. She wanted to get married, but wind up being stuck as boy. That what she want, that what we do."
"I see..."
Bobbing in the air, That Pixie made a disappointed sound. "Wish could go other way."
"How so?"
"See many picture books, have ideas! Want to make her into animorph or robot."
"Sound good," agreed Other Pixie, who tended to like things to stay into nature. And the idea of a girl who was also an animal, or a robot that didn't need even more food was appealing. "Why not?"
"Is what I say. Then we can give present to groom boy. He have friend, she stay with him. And he have pet, companion or servant."
YAP shook his head. "Have be nice, and no know if she like that. This way, she be girl, and we no have to worry about it."
"Okay..."
"No worry. If problem come up, or find she want that, we still able to turn her like you want. Is good?"
"Is very good," TP agreed.
"Then we get started. But carefully! No want wind up getting gods mad like with That Other Pixie."
The assembled pixies nodded soberly. TOP had been an experienced changer, but hadn't paid attention when it had been most important. So when the change had been done, Hephaestus had not been pleased, and TOP had wound up being put into a glass and metal cage to be put into service to others for a pretty much eternal pennance. Which was pretty much a fate the rest wished to avoid.
"What we make her?" AP asked, "There many kinds of girls."
