Genma's Summoning - Eilistraee: Magick Casting 101 OR Safety Precautions [Episode 105420]

by Sect

For a moment, as Eilistraee was stacking sandbags around a circle, she wondered if she was overreacting just a tiny bit.

After remembering the incident with the Scroll of Summon Monster, the drow decided that she needed to add another yard of sandbags to the wall.

Oh, Ranma was a surprisingly good student when it came to magic learning. Threatening to bring out another werewolf does wonders for motivation. She was somewhat dissapointed that his magical skill was more suited for a sorceror, meaning that she would need more outside help in training him. Still, she thought that she managed a good job training her champion.

It was really a shame that his aura tweaked magic just a bit. She supposed that she was fortunate that his attempt at using a weak magic scroll only open a portal into one of the outer planes; she had been too occupied destroying imps to figure out which one.

But now was the time to see if Ranma could actually control his magic. In between teaching Ranma swordplay and (ugh) archery, and plotting revenge on certain meddling gods and goddesses, she had been experimenting with the aura, seeing if Ranma could somehow bypass or influence it.

"Are you done yet?" the Japanese boy asked her, looking increduously at the ten foot high wall of sandbags that enveloped a circle eight feet in diameter, with a gap in the wall two feet wide. Just in case if she had to help Ranma, or if Ranma had to run away as though the baatezu of the Abyss were on his heels.

By her experiences with the winged boy, Eilistraee did not doubt that he might accidentaly do that.

Looking wistfully at the hundred other bags that she could use, she slowly nodded. "I suppose that might be enough," she replied uncertainly. Uncertainity was a common thing around the boy.

Ranma rolled his eyes as he entered the ring. Stupid goddesses and their worrying.

He quickly amended that when he heard his teacher growl behind him. He really shouldn't forget about her detect thoughts spell.

Standing in the middle of the circle, he prepared to cast his first spell, without aid of a scroll or wand.

Meanwhile, Eilistraee was waiting ten feet away behind a thick wall of steel that she had constructed the day before, hoping that the boy didn't blow himself up; she rather liked the kid.
