Roy sighed. The first group of recruits was now fresh out of Macross Academy and eager to get into real Starfuries and fight against the Zents. He sighed as he stopped, Ensign Rick Hunters file on the screen. Rick had changed in the last six month. True he was mostly his old self, but Rick never was that interested in war before.
"What the hell happened to him," he asked his empty office.
It wasn't just the fact that Rick turned out to abandon his mostly pacifistic views, it was the fact that Rick was simply too good. In all the hours inside the simulator, Rick had yet to be shot down. His synchronization rate was higher than the rate of most seasoned Veritech pilots. Ands than he had some sort of spacial awareness, Roy knew he hadn't had before.
He reached forward to the keyboard and started to tap around on it. He needed to get Rick into the Skulls, so that he could have an eye on him.

Slowly the small freighter of Northrop Grumman made its way through hyperspace towards the jumpgate of Saturn. Two weeks after the assault of Titan the SDF-1 was around and the freighters destination. Inside the cargo hold a prototype waited to be used. There would be two weeks of ground testing on the Macross, before it would see combat action.
Not far behind was a Boeing Kawasaki freighter with the same destination. And it also had a prototype in its cargo hold. It looked like both corporations wanted to use the direct combat action of this war, concentrated on the Macross to test and promote their prototype Starfuries.
Time would show which prototype would be used as one of the future Starfuries beside the Veritech.

Breetai breathed in deep. Khyrons fleet was about to enter this solar system. In the last two weeks since the Micronians had stolen the one monitor, and since the wars start six weeks ago, Breetais fleet was reduced by nearly two thousand ships. Khyron's fleet would bring the reinforcements Breetai needed, about three thousand vessels. The only problem was that these ships where loyal to Khyron.
Breetai closed his eyes. He needed to get back the stolen monitor. He simply couldn't let the micronians get their hands on vital information.
At the moment the Monitor was landed in the deep chasm on the surface of the fourth planet and a hundred vessel fleet of ships was currently surrounding the planet. As soon as Khyron left fold he would be ordered to assault the planet and get back the Monitor. It was for the best.
Maybe Breetai would be lucky and Khyron died in that assault.
