"'Thayvian'?" asked a crow, "As in 'red wizards'?"
"Yeah, and they look like they're not about to try to live down that repuation."
"So... That means magic items, mercenaries, and a will to do what they have to."
"Pretty much."
"But why would they be here?" a chipmunk aked.
The crow cocked his head. "Simple. This place is pretty isolated, so they probably thought that it'd make a good stop over base while they were moving and getting slaves."
"More like taking them," a bluejay groused.
"True..."
"Which means on the one side there's a group of mean people used to and ready to defend themselves from any sort of attack," a mouse commented.
"And on the other is a group of adventurers just starting out who count a swordsman with little brains, but lots of skill, and a sorceress who tends to believe dealing with problems involves blowing them up."
"Don't forget Pewter," the robin reminded them.
"This should be interesting," observed the sparrow.
Sinda knew that something was up, but she couldn't place where it was coming from. It wasn't from the fishing, or the disagreement between the kender and the mithra. She just could feel something was wrong, and that it was close. But it wasn't like a sign or a map, so she could only hold this sense of uneasiness.
The raft went on though, as her feelings alone didn't alter the course, yet she was about to talk about it with the other when they:
