That was how she liked it, and she prefered her underlings to be afraid of her. Fear would keep them in line, and ready to do as she commanded. Not that her abilities with darkness didn't help.
Hearing a knock on her door, she shifted so that her slinky suit gave the appearance of dignity and called out, "Come in."
A blond man entered and walked over to stand in front of the imposing hunk of wood she called a desk. "You called for me, Ma'am?"
"Yes Manipulator. How are things going with our plans?"
"On schedule. We shall be able to move as we have scheduled, unless there are other interruptions..."
"Do you have a problem with being called here?"
"Of course not," he replied, "I am only following your instructions. And right now my plans have set up our forces quite well."
"Good. I want to make sure that nothing happens that could derail us."
"That is my wish as well."
"I like hearing things like that," Beryl commented, "Though if you do have a complaint, perhaps we can talk about it while the Astrologer can handle the job."
Manipulator's jaw clenched as he considered the other man taking over his task. The idea of that mystically empowered twit messing around with everything he'd worked on was not a pleasing one. It would have been almost as bad as having Flower Fencer or his 'friend', the Commander involved. "I don't think that'll be necessary."
"Then you may go."
The man left, disappearing into the shadows as Beryl sat back and smiled to herself while:
