"Tiramisu Ranma, it's called Tiramisu" replied a smiling Meia
The meeting between them was jovial, but Ranma detected a tinge of melancholy and sadness lingering in Meia's aura.
He then asked to her what was on his mind.
"Mei-chan what we are celebrating today?. I liked this food, but you didn't invited me only because we are friends, true?
Meia adquired then a distant look in her eyes. Just then, the sound reproductor started with "What A Wonderful World" and her eyes glimmered with unshed tears.
"Today is the 12th anniversary of the last time that I saw my mother and Delia, my other mother"
Ranma remembered what Meia's parents were lesbians. In the 22nd century it was allowed for same sex couples to adopt childs in the men's case and to concieve in the female couples. The only prequisite was for there to be a stable family. While they were in the academy, Meia only allowed him to know small things about her parents. While he knew what they died when she was a child, he did not know the exact details of their demise.
"As you know, my mom was a field doctor, but Delia was who inspired me to become a pilot. She was a Marine pilot in the Sinazar colony. When the Minbari attacked the colony, all the children in the garrison were evacuated, and the only shuttle remaining after the first attacks was filled to the brim to jump while the star fury squads made a suicide run to distract the Nials.
"I saw Delia fly like a furious falcon, taking Nial after Nial to protect the shuttle. After she shot down four of them, those hornhead acted like cowards and attacked her StarFury in mass. She evaded almost all of their shots but one grazed her ship. Then a Nial tried to take down the shuttle.
"The last image what have of she is seeing her look to the shuttle with my binoculars and then ram that Nial to protect the ship"
"Later when we arrived to Earth we were informed of what the colony was totaled for the orbital bombardement after the attempt to take the garrison with ground troops was repelled with success by the Marines."
"From that day I try to celebrate with those what I consider as my friends to remember that their death wasn't for nothing"
"......'What A Wonderful World'........it was Delia's favorite song. .......She said what that song was the best way of define our birthplace."
Melia's face then adquired a more cheerful expression and replied to Ranma.
"Well, the past is the past, and I have talked too much about me. It's time to know more about you Ranma...and you will answer all my questionsss" finished her with a cat who ate the canary grin on her face.
"You know what I don't like to talk about my life before of the academy Meia, and you already know a lot about me."
Meia then did something that always shattered Ranma's defensiveness and relutancy to share or do something.
She employed the Sad Puppy Dog Eyes look.
Ranma sighed and nodded to her after thirty seconds.
On Earth, some computers were alerted for the sudden petition from B5 security asking about Ranma Saotome. Those machines became even more active when the Ambassadors from the Minbari and Vorlon worlds used their special access to EF net. One special source was alerted about all the inquries.
The Psi-Corps HQ.
Zach decided to try with the Yakuza contact that he had on Mars. While he waited for the call to link with Kogura's residence, he was reading the files what he recieved from the EF Academy.
They did reveal was how well Ranma did in his Personal Combat course, that he defeated all the instructors in the Academy, and that he had , from his flight instructor's viewpoint, an incredible G-tolerance and reflexes like no one before had ever showed recently.
"Whew, this guy is First class material for Security....hmmmm......the only bad point in his registry is what he got in some fights with GROPOS..but his superiors didn't sanction him with the excuse of what "always the military guys started the fights" heh...looks like Ranma had a friend or two among the higher ups in the Academy......"
The comm screen announced what the call finally had been recieved, startling Zach out of his lecture.
"Who is calling at this time, dammit! If you aren't a naked girl who wants to marry me, go to the hell!"
"It's me Hideko."
"Huh....Zack? It's you! Where you're now? It has been a long time from the last time we did something together no?"
"I know, but this isn't the reason for what I called you now. I need you to check a name with your superiors in the Yamaguchi-Gumi. The subject it's called Ranma Saotome."
"hmm.....ok. I'll check that name tomorrow, but you must pay the usual fee for the work ok?"
"Like always...."
"Ok then. I'll call you in the moment what I get that info, goodbye!"
Zach then left his room, and walked to begin his turn.
