"It is a matter of great honor," Soun pronounced. "Your father and I made a promise years ago, when we had been in our darkest days, and now it is time to fulfill it."
"Okay... that still tells me nothin'."
"Do not worry, you will have plenty of time for explanation, but we decided on this arrangement so that we might have our dreams realised."
"Just what is this... 'arrangement' anyway?" Minako asked with a ball of dread growing in her gut.
"Why, his father and I agreed that when the time came, his son would marry one of my daughters."
"WHAT?!" came the bellow from everyone save the two elder men.
"We set this up before you were even born," Genma told his son, "And now that you're old enough, it has come time for you to hold up your end of the bargain."
The pigtailed young man glared at his father. "Ya can't think that I'd actually like this. I mean, first off ya might've considered tellin' me before we had a couple of those situations, and second, I ain't exactly appreciatin' the idea of you pickin' out who I'm gonna marry!"
"Don't you realise that this has been planned out long before I even knew that I would have a son?! And as your father, you should understand that I know what would be best!"
Minako rolled her eyes at that, as several incidents ran through her mind that disproved his words. Which was good for her, since this whole thing was not exactly something she liked, for several reasons.
"Yeah right," Ranma drawled, "And ya do realise that other than the 'know-nothin'' there, we know squat about these girls? I don't wanna just marry someone off the street!"
"HEY!" Akane indignantly yelled, "Who are you calling a 'know-nothing'?!"
"Have ya ever been out of this city?"
"Not that much, but what does that have to do with anything?!"
"I have. Ya ever met Inoue?"
"I've read all I can find out about him."
"I've known him for years when I'd rather not. So ya know nothin'."
"Grrr..," the youngest Tendo growled, glaring at him as if it would make him catch fire.
"And other than meetin' them, I know nothin' about the other two! I ain't about ta let ya say, 'Here, you're marryin' this girl'!"
"And who would want to marry a jerk like you!"
"Hopefully, not you," Ranma retorted.
"Oooh... you stupid..."
"Hold on a sec," Nabiki asked, "You're telling me that one of us is supposed to marry this guy?"
"That is so," Soun confirmed.
"And you never thought to let us in on that little secret because..."
"We agreed that it would be best to wait until he came."
"So you could spring it on us."
"Exactly!" the Tendo father replied, happy that at least one of his daughters understood.
"Oh my..," Kasumi murmured, trying to imagine herself in a jungle clinc.
Nabiki gave her father a droll look and wondered if she wanted to risk being stuck with a guy who'd drag her off to all sorts of exotic locations. Then again, she could always be forced into studying books while he went out and did the hands on stuff. She wasn't quite sure if it was a good thing or not at the moment.
Both fathers looked positively happy that their plans were about to be completed and grinned at each other while:
