Sora walked through the makeshift barriade, and stepped through. She was greeted by a beautiful view of the ocean from atop a cliff. Its beauty, however, was wasted on her. She had seen it many times in her life that she perhaps took it all for granted. Beyond the cliff, there were various objects that formed platforms to the other side of the small bay. She began walking toward them when Riku jumped down from above.
Riku held up an orange, star shaped fruit. "This is a Star Fruit. They say if you eat it with someone, you'll be with them together," explained the tall boy.
Tilting her head, Sora asked, "What's your point?"
"Let's have a race to the raft. If I win...how about we eat it together? If you win, you can eat it with whoever you want." Riku offered.
Sora was rather shocked when she heard the proposal. What was Riku trying to say anyway? Clenching her fist, she replied, "And the winner gets to be captain of the raft!"
Kairi approached them, and asked, "What're you guys doing? We got stuff to do, y'know?"
Waving a dismissing hand, Riku said, "Don't worry, Kairi. We'll get to that. The day's still young, afterall. Me and Sora are just gonna have a little competition. That's all."
She shook her head, and figured it was best to let the children have their fun. Walking over to the wall of a greater cliff, Kairi held up her hand. Sora and Riku obediantly took their marks. "Ready?" She called, "Go!" Her hand flew down, starting the race.
Suddenly, Tidus came back to Sora's mind. Did he really have a crush on her? And why did Riku want to eat that fruit with her? She was certain when he described it, that he was going to suggest Kairi. It all didn't make sense to her. She wasn't anything special. Kairi, on the other head, was in a league of her own. Then Sora is brought back to reality, and took off.
