Ranma smiled at Kasumi as she gently treated his wounds. "Um, about yesterday..." Cute was definitely the first word that came to mind when Kasumi's face quickly reddened. "I meant what I said... I...”
“Stop flirting with my sister, you jerk!” Akane screeched in her usual fit of insane anger, her mallet thundering down toward Ranma's head, malice in Akane's eyes.
“It's not...” Ranma could barely get through his pathetic attempt to pacify the monster Akane before it happened.
Kasumi pushed Ranma aside with her strength and stood in the line of fire, not even given enough time to cover herself as the mallet crashed into her forehead with enough force to crack the wood all the up.
“Kasumi!” Ranma shouted as
he ran back up to her, scooping her up as she fell, her head
bleeding, her eyes fluttering as she struggled to stay
conscious.
“Wh-wha...?” Akane was beside herself,
the mallet's handle falling from her limp hands and clattering to the
floor. “Why did she...?”
Nabiki was the first to rush to the front of the house, first aid kit in hand. “Who did this!?” she demanded as she started to bandage Kasumi's head, trying desperately to stop the bleeding.
Ranma couldn't answer, to confused to even think at the moment, the sting of his own wounds suddenly feeling insignificant as Kasumi's life bled all over him. He simply looked at her, trying to keep her still as Nabiki applied the bandages.
“Lay her down slowly,”
Nabiki told Ranma, who did as he was told, carefully laying Kasumi on
the ground as if terrified he'd break her. Nabiki then looked up at
Akane. “What're you standing there for!? Wake daddy up and
call an ambulance!”
Akane blinked out of her distant
trance at her sister's order, running into the house as she tried to
overcome the pang of guilt that had overtaken her.
