Ranma gave him a frown in return. "What sorta deal?"
"It's nothing to worry yourself about boy. Don't realise that your father would only think of the best for you?"
"Nah. Where'd ya meet him?"
"It's all on the up and up boy. I met him and my alternate soon after we got here. We made an agreement then, and I plan on sticking to it."
"Hold on a sec," the younger Saotome said, "Ya met the version of us in this world?"
"Yes, I did."
"And ya didn't think ta tell me after all the years since then?"
"There was no reason to. As I understand it, he and his son were... lost to life in a climbing accident. And now the only ones to fulfil the promise are the two of us."
"Oh... Still, what did ya promise?"
"You will see when we get there, and I'm sure that you will enjoy it."
"Right..."
"See? You agree with me," the elder Saotome said, and started walking. "Come on or we'll be late!"

They moved quickly past all sorts of stores, some of which he found himself wanting to stop and look at. However, the old man was moving fast for once, and they didn't stop at all.
In the end, they wound up at a rather nice looking house with a dojo, and a big gate set into its property wall.
"This it Pop?" Ranma asked.
"It is indeed," Genma replied, and knocked on the door. "Hello? Anyone home?"
A man of about the elder Saotome's age came out with a smile curving his mouth as he hugged Genma. "Saotome, my friend. How are you?"
"Good my friend. And you?"
"Wonderful now that you are here. And this must be your son."
"He is. Ranma, I'd like you to meet Soun Tendo."
The pigtailed boy nodded in the mustached man's direction. "How d'ya do Mister Tendo?"
"Good. Very good in fact. Come inside."
"Sure thing Soun," Genma replied.
Still wondering what was going on, Ranma followed the elder two men inside, and to a dining room where a tea set sat on the table. Both men came in and sat down there, looking supremely comfortable. It was a nice place, rather roomy for such a crowded city, but what caught the teenaged boy's eye was that other than the two men, there were:
