Chained World: Walking Time [Episode 109637]

Trudging after his father, Ranma knew that the old man was not someone that he really respected. First off, the idiot had tried to find a scroll that he'd heard about from his old master, only to get them both dropped into this new world. Then he'd seen several opportunities to sell his son into slavery, but fortunately, he hadn't had been thwarted each time due to his own ineptitude, or the pigtailed boy's will not to become someone's property. When he'd realised what he was risking, Genma had pulled back, but he was still rather willing to do things that he thought that would get him a quick buck, even at his own son's occassional expense.

No, he really, really didn't respect or trust his old man that much.

But he still traveled with him since he was the only family he had on this world.

Looking at his father's back, he scowled as he considered this world. Slavery was rampant, with auctions and markets for free people to buy them. Anyone could be a slave, but there were rules about that. Some were forced into it, usually by being criminals, or being sold by their parents. A person couldn't become a slave by having debt, but they could sell themselves in order to make the money they needed. Then there were those who became slaves because of some desire that they had to become one, usually because of something he'd heard about in whispers and giggles.

There were also two set ups for the slavery, with a contract being set up. Either there would be a set period for the slavery, or the person would be one for the rest of their life. And then there were the treatments, ranging anywhere from simple mental manipulation, to a high grade mental attitude adjustment. Science had gotten to that point, but they still left the basic personality alone. The person would be themselves, but willing, and hopefully happy for the time of their slavery.

Then again, that didn't explain why his father was all in a huff to get going. "Where are we goin' Pop? Did ya get inta trouble again?"

"No, I did not!" Genma barked. "And we're heading out because of you."

"Me? Why?"

"We have to get to our destination quickly so that we don't have to worry about being late. When we get there, then we can go and:
