Just then, a figure leapt out on the road in front of them wearing some kind of curvy armor. With a drawn sword, and a helmet that had something that looked like fins on it, this did not look like a very friendly being, but they weren't going to be able to miss it. Which meant that they were going to have to go straight in.
"Wow! Random monsters and everything."
"Oh dear..," Chizuko said as she thought about what was going to happen.
Rin gave her friend a faint smile. "Let's just try our best, okay?"
"Yeah! Let's make sure that the monster can't get us!" Miyuki agreed.
The three chocobo glanced at each other, and made a quick decision based on thier training. Each of them had been well practiced in war manuevers, and they knew that they had to protect their charges. That meant that they would have to defend them, and one fighter was not going to bother someone like them.
So they got in line and prepared to deal with the threat properly.
Surya was not terribly excited by this assignment, but she had little choice. This was what she had been told to do, and she was going to do it. It was her task to get the candidates, and that was what she would do. These three didn't look like much trouble, so she was sure that she wouldn't have much of a problem. As far as she thought, her biggest problem would lie with their panicking, and she was certain that would be handled easily enough.
So she stood there in the road, ready to meet the coming girls on their mounts.
Only the chocobos didn't seem to be stopping...
And they were just about right on top of her.
Chizuko blinked as her chocobo slammed into the 'monster', one big foot slamming into the chest and sending the figure to the ground.
Rin frowned as she realised that the 'monster' had just been run over by her mount.
And Miyuki turned around in her saddle and frowned as she took a look at the figure that her chocobo had just finished embedding into the road. "Well, that was easy..."
"Maybe it was just a weak monster," her blonde friend suggested.
"Could be," Rin agreed, "But we can't be sure that there won't be worse ones."
"But we can count on our friends here. Right big guy?" Miyuki said as she patted her ride.
The chocobo realised that it was getting thanked by its rider, and appreciated the gesture.
As the other two girls nodded, and followed their friend's example, all three mounts came to the conclusion that these were nice and good girls.
Which made leaving that attacker flat out on the road even better, while:
