And he couldn't get a real read on the girls, since he wasn't really able to come to complete conclusions at the moment. What he was able to see did tell him that they looked... good, but he didn't know much more than that. Unfortunately, he was quite sure of what anyone was going to make of this.
But then he found a pen being shoved into his hand and he blinked as he looked down at the paper in front of him.
".... all you have to do is sign that paper and we can leave you four," Mister Tendo told him. "Understand?"
"Huh? I guess..," Ranma murmured.
"Good then boy," Genma put in, "Sign it."
"This?"
"Yes, that."
Still a bit of confused, Ranma looked over it only long enough to see that his name and the girls' were on the paper when he signed it. Then the two fathers snatched it up with such glee that he was almost afraid that they would dance in happiness. However, they pulled themselves together and simply turned back to them.
"Now we have to go for now," the elder Saotome told them, "Be good until then."
"Ya do?" his son asked. "Do ya really..?"
"Yes, we do. You all should use this time to get to know each other," Soun told them as the two men left as quickly as possible.
Left behind, Ranma turned to the girls and gave them a weak smile. "How are ya doin'?"
"We are well," the eldest, Kasumi if he remembered correctly, responded as she nodded with a small smile.
"Guess this would be a surprise, huh?"
"It was."
"Yeah... I know it was for me."
"A good one I hope."
"I hope so... 'Cept..."
Nabiki raised a brow. "What is it?"
"Ya didn't know 'bout this?"
"We only found out that this... meeting was happening this morning. Though you must have been excited when you found out."
"Probably cheered when he heard," Akane muttered with a sour look.
"Nope. I didn't do that, did I?"
"What are you talking about?"
"I didn't find out until I came in here," he said with a shrug.
"You didn't know?" the middle sister replied.
"Yup. Only knew that Pops had an arrangement."
"Hmm..." she murmured with a smirk. "It's not like we can change it though."
"We can't?"
"Nope. That was the legal paper for... it that you just signed."
"It was?!"
"You didn't know?"
He simply shook his head and sighed while:
