Resident Ranma: The Next iteration [Episode 11164]

by Thrythlind

The umbrella corporation had based their decisions on footage taken from the Nerima area compiled by one Nabiki Tendo.

It showed their test subjects as highly skilled combatants in the arts of physical conflict.

It did not, on the other hand, show the whole truth. Even the weakest of them, Alpha-2, Kodachi Kuno, had at least a base awareness of and ability to harness chi. A fact which was slowly but surely leading to mutations of a more...indistinct manner.

Chi batteries that were once small were waxing large, those that had been large were approaching tremendous levels. Those batteries were slowly filling. Even with the intense activity, and drain caused by the physical changes, one of the test subjects was going to notice eventually.

The Umbrella corporation was damned lucky that magic of Jusenkyo about three of the T-Counters simply transferred the changes across the forms, though this had not yet been witnessed by the techs. They were still alive, and fact helped the curse hold firm against the non-magical assault, barely noticing it.

They were not so lucky with one among the T-Virus's victims. As the body died and was reformed, mutated by the virus, the magic was broken, and raw, unformed magic settled into the T-Virus and spread in seemingly random manners. The form of the curse broken, the magic settled on patterning itself off the nature of the T-Virus...destruction.

The result was still nothing to infect the T-Counters, but now...among the various mindless and bestial predators, some few developed a cold, unliving, demonic intellect and will.

The T-Virus did no longer produced only beasts that appeared demons. Now, true demons walked the Earth in their facility. Demons that no longer sought merely to feed, but to destroy all that possessed what they did not.

"What's that," the Umbrella observer asked, pointing to a screen among many. The technician glanced and shrugged dismissively.

"That's one of the still sealed areas," he answered. "The test subjects have not yet reached any of the doors they'll need to unseal to complete the test."

"I see," the man said and watched the monitor with a feeling of disquiet.

One of the zombies in that room seemed very much alive as it walked, not ambled, but walked through the crowds of the living dead, a serene smile pasted to a pale, but unspoiled form and face. One that would have been immediately recognizable to any of the Nerima denizens.

Comfort and solace no longer lay behind that smile, however.

Kasumi had long since departed her body to go to her just reward.

All that remained was the Queen of the Dead, a newborn soul of madness and death hidden under a pleasant seeming veneer of stolen memories.
