Even though the mask totally covered his face, the Overlord gave off the feeling of raising a brow. "Then why did you ask?"
"When I think 'bout pets, I think 'bout dogs, or somethin'."
"Ah. Yes, well, that girl is at about that intelligence level. She might have been bright once, but she's no longer able to even speak. Essentially, she's at a 'pet' level of intellect."
"So..."
"I think that since you seem to want to deal with her so much, it should be a permanent arrangement."
"I dunno...." the Heir commented, scratching the back of his head, "I mean, she's a girl."
"Who will be your pet. Do what you want with her. She'll be yours, completely and utterly. At her current levels, she can't really control herself, as she'd been pushed down to acting basically on instinct. It will be your job to train her, feed her, bathe her, and anything else that a pet owner will have to do."
"That's..."
"Your responsibility. I don't care what you do with her. Teach her to play fetch. Make her do tricks. Have her entertain you in the bedroom. But however it ends up, it'll be you who is responsible for it in the end. If she misbehaves, it'll be your fault."
"Eeep..."
His grandfather waved a hand. "Yet, if she turns out to be a well behaved little pet, perhaps even to the point where she can be led on her leash to meet dignitaries, and wants to show off how pretty she looks, or what sort of things she can do, it'd reflect well on you."
"Gotcha."
"And remember this. She can regain her former intelligence. If she does, and you have managed to bring her in line even then, I'll be pleased. You'd probably be able to keep her then."
"I would?"
"Ranma? She'd be yours totally. Right now, you can even name her. I don't care what you do with her, so long as you take care of your duty and responsibility. It's my hope that giving you this task and opportunity will teach you to learn to grow up some."
"If you'd say so, then I guess that'd be the case," Ranma allowed.
"I'll let the scientists know to send her to you."
"Okay..."
"Just don't disappoint me Ranma."
"I won't," the teenager replied, wondering how he could handle being the owner of a teenaged girl 'pet', while:
