Ranma looked at his grandfather. "Um... ooookay. So... we just hang out together or what?"
The Invincible Overlord looked at his grandson avuncularly. Not that anyone could tell, with that mask on. In fact, he was fairly certain his grandson couldn't even spell the word, much less know what it meant.
"Ohhhhh, no. One of the things that's made me what I am today is planning ahead.
"You see, my boy," the Overlord turned to look at the Senshi. "These... girls had a certain destiny to fulfill. The one in black down there, see her? She had a connection with a certain time-travelling device that they were using to gain some knowledge of the future.
"The problem with the future is that it is never certain. However, some events can be predicted quite accurately. For example, a volcanic eruption. Nothing anyone can do right now will change when a volcano erupts, or an earthquake strikes, and so on."
Ranma scratched his head. "So what does this have ta do with me and these girls?"
"Certain beings and organizations which they had plans to face come from off-planet or other dimensions. I cannot act pre-emptively to stop them, so that's where you and they will come in.
"Your team will be responsible for dealing with these outside forces in an appropriate manner, and you will make me look good at the same time. Heh heh heh heh heh Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!" *choke* *wheeze*
"Aw, gramps. Ya know ya ain't supposed ta laugh evilly like that any more!"
