So she had tried to contact the girl.
She did it again when she got no answer.
After the third time it became clear that the girl was too focused on her fantasy of being with a certain pigtailed boy to really notice much else.
So she gave up on that direction for the moment and turned her attention to the other individual that could be possibly helpful here, and among the easier ones to contact.
And then she sighed as she saw what was going on.
Rubbing his temple, the priest groaned as it seemed that what he'd been half expecting had happened again. "Rei!"
"Yes, Grandpa?" came the reply as a raven haired little girl in robes came into the room.
"I need to talk to you."
"About what?"
"'About' you getting into trouble."
"But I haven't been doing anything I'm not supposed to!"
"Other than fighting with the monk trainees?"
Rei's jaw set into a firm line. "They made me. I didn't want to, but those jerks kept on bothering me!"
"They were saying the same things, weren't they?"
"Uh-huh. They were all mean, saying that since I'm little, and a girl, I can't do the same things they can. And when I tell them it's not true, and say all the things I can do, they laugh!"
"But Rei? They're twice your age," he reminded her, "They can do things you can."
"Doesn't mean they have to be mean about it."
"I know, but just remember that you're special, okay?"
"Of course!" she agreed, favoring him with a bright grin, "I learn all the stuff faster than anyone, and I'm real good with my meditations!"
"Not to mention your special senses."
"Yeah! And I'm the most responsible one out of my age, right?"
"You're more than responsible. You're dependable."
"Aren't I? And you can depend on me to do everything I'm supposed to. Like... Have you taken your medicine? The healer wanted you to take it about this time."
"I was going to..."
"Grandpa!" the raven haired little girl replied indignantly, "You've got to take care of yourself! The healer made me promise to make sure that you took the herbs, and even if I didn't say I would, I'd still do it!"
"That goes without saying."
"What was that?"
"Nothing. Just thinking out loud."
"Well, you can think while you take your medicine."
Smiling to himself, the priest wondered if he'd ever realised back when he'd found that sphere on his walk that later on he'd be dealing with an adopted grandaughter who was so bossy. It was clear that she cared for him, and that she was a good child. She was just a bit overly responsible at times, or so it seemed when she took charge of things.
Still, he loved her dearly, and was glad that she was growing up as well as she was.
Pluto frowned as she watched the little girl maneuver the little old man over to his room. It looked like she was rather take charge, but that was fine by her standards. At the moment, she did need to get into contact with someone, and someone who wasn't weak willed would help. But if she was too headstrong, or misjudged things, things might get into problems.
As she reached out towards the girl, she hoped that it would work, while:
