"Your holiness," Kiima said quietly in surprise. "You've finished maturing."
"Sort of," the teenaged voice declared. "No shortcuts this time, Kiima. Too risky. And now, I have a task for you."
"Anything you wish," Kiima declared.
"Go to Japan and observe Ranma Saotome," Saffron said.
"Yes, your holiness," Kiima declared. "You shall have your revenge as soon as possible."
"I don't want revenge," Saffron said. "I want him to love me."
Kiima's face snapped up as she gasped.
"My...my...you can't be..." Kiima sputtered to the amusement of her superior. "He destroyed you once before."
"All the more reason that his place should be by my side," Saffron said. Kiima still looked non-pulsed. "I have...urges, Kiima, and desires to see children. It has been a millenia since I have sired or borne any. And Ranma Saotome is the only one on this world that has taken a Phoenix Pill."
"We can find someone else," Kiima said. "Make another pill..."
"I don't feel like waiting four hundred years," Saffron sighed. "And I don't want to burn up every partner I take."
"But..." Kiima protested.
"You are just to observe and tell me what you can about him," Saffron declared. "I would that he love me honestly and for that I have to know him and let him know me."
"But..." Kiima said again.
"Do I have to repeat myself?" Saffron asked.
"No," Kiima said. "I...I shall observe the groundling."
"Good," Saffron said. "Be ready to advise me when I arrive a month from now, using magic to hide as one of these groundlings. I shall be going by the name...Yeh Lo, is that understood?"
"Yes," Kiima said reluctantly. "Your holiness, my lady."
"Good," Saffron said stepping close to Kiima and revealing herself to be a young woman with sharp, angular features and flaming locks. "You better hurry then."
