Ranma: evolution: Academy days [Episode 113582]

by Black & White

Seline scowled as she sat back in her seat and glanced out the window beside her, looking down at where the ocean was visible through the clouds. 'Patience, patience.' she thought to herself, closing her eyes. 'That pure life force is not going away, and if I find the right secrets I will be closer to claiming it.' Her scowl became a grin at the thought.

Ranma blinked and looked around. 'Odd, I suddenly felt like I should be sitting next to a side of fries and a coke.'

"Another of those 'Attack but can't tell the direction moments?'" Emma Frost called, glancing toward him momentarily, then returning her attention toward her driving.

"Um, no it's. . . not." Ranma replied. He glanced over, noting that she had swapped her 'Hellfire' outfit for a business suit. Well one with a shorter than normal skirt and a tight fitting shirt beneath the white jacket.

Frost almost frowned as she felt Ranma catalog her appearance and suppressed the surge of desire without difficulty. 'Well, at least I know why.

The evening before, she had approached Ranma on the subject of probing his mind to try and learn more about Mystiques mysterious mission. Once he agreed, she had dived deep into his mind, and found quite a few surprises in the brief foray.

'I wonder what that meowing was? No, with all that fear surrounding it, it's probably best I didn't push to find out.'

"As I mentioned, I've E-Mailed your pictures, and when we get there you'll have both male and female ID's for use."

"Yeah. . ." Ranma commented absently, his eyes darting around as the sports car shot down the highway. "I. . . I wouldn't have pegged you as a teacher. . . " he said nervously.

"I'm not." Emma replied with a grin as she pushed down the accelerator a little more. "I don't teach at the Massachusetts Academy, I OWN the Massachusetts Academy." She grinned as she swerved right to pass the Yugo in front of her.

Marie-Ange Colbert muttered a choice French curse as she shifted her grip on her school bag to adjust for the broken handle. As the red hared seventh grader adjusted her grip, she came to a halt and glanced around, taking in the buildings of the academy and the students walking between them. Her eyes paused as she saw a small group walking behind a brown hared boy about a year older than her. 'Manuel' She thought with a scowl as she looked away. 'Definitely not someone I'd ask for help.' Turning she strode in the opposite direction, pivoting at the corner of a building.

A flash of red was all she really saw before suddenly colliding with a red hared girl who was standing there wiping water from her face with an annoyed expression.

"Ah, Pardon! I'm sorry!" she said as she stepped back looking at the girl. "Are you a new student?" she asked as she quickly looked over the pigtailed girl.

"Sort of." The girl replied in a pronounced Japanese accent, with a hint of Hawaiian. "Ran. . .Ranko Saotome." Ranma concluded with a quick bow.

Marie looked, then suddenly recalled a tidbit from one class and with a quick "Oh," bowed back. "Pleased to meet you, I am Marie-Ange Colbert." Looking downward, she knelt and picked up her bag, and stuffed the books that had fallen out of it back in. "Pleased to meet you, but I have a class." She added, pointing toward one building and turning to start.

"Wait!" Ranma's voice called from behind her.

As Marie turned, Ranma extended a hand holding a few large cards. "You dropped these."

"Oh!" Marie exclaimed, grabbing the cards and checking the pocket where she kept the deck. "Thank you."

"No problem, I guess I'll see you around." Ranma replied as she turned and walked away.

Marie looked around for other dropped cards, promising herself that she'd count all the cards in her grandmother's deck when she had the chance. Then she looked at the cards Ranma had given her with a frown.

'Three cards. . . person, circumstances and future.' Turning them over she looked at the images drawn on them. 'The Fool: Inexperienced but with great potential, possibly at the beginning of a great journey. The eight of swords: Imprisonment, or at least severely limited options. The Tower: Destruction, catastrophe, violent change.'
