"Kitty!"
Kitty Pryde blinked and glanced down the hall where a scowling Scott Summers stood holding the phone handset, one hand over the mouthpiece.
Seeing he had her attention, Scott continued, "It's Lance. He wants to talk with you about something, and refuses to say what it's about. Want me to tell him to get lost?"
Shaking her head Kitty walked up, extending her hand. "No, I'll talk to him." Taking the phone she held it to her face and turned away from Scott while calling "Hello?"
"Ah, Kitty!" Lance's voice came back. "I was hoping I could get in touch with you. Xavier's crew treating you good?"
"I'm fine, why are you calling?"
"What, can't I call to check in on a friend? See if everything's alright? Find out if you've gotten into any fights with Magneto recently?"
"Magneto? Do you know something about him? No one here's seen any trace of him for weeks."
"I see. Well, you may have noticed that we weren't in school the past few days . . ."
"Well, your crew never had good attendance, but yeah it was quiet."
"Thanks," Lance deadpanned. "But the thing is, a few days ago, Mystique suddenly contacted us out of nowhere and made us one of those 'offers we couldn't refuse'. Next thing we knew, we were on a plane across the country to deliver a care package to some new guest of Magneto."
"You were at Magneto's base? Where is it!?"
"Hey! First of all, Mystique made a point to set up transportation so we didn't know where it was. Bucket head probably wouldn't have let us go if she hadn't. Secondly, if I could tell you, Magneto would come gunning for me the moment you took advantage of the information, and I'd rather not die yet."
"Right. So is there any other point to this call?"
"Yeah, when we got to Mags base . . . Well, Pietro tried to keep us all locked away, but Toad slipped in and it seems most of Magneto's crew looked like they'd gotten jobs as Mike Tyson's punching bags."
"Really? All of them?"
"Well, Toad didn't see all of them . . . look, telling you everything would take a while, how about I tell you over a pizza. My treat, don't worry."
"Lance, are you asking me on a date?"
"I'm offering you information. And pizza. Look, how about I give you an hour and meet you at Siceros, ok?"
Kitty opened her mouth to reply, then closed it as she heard the click of the phone hanging up.
"What did Avalanche want?" Scott asked.
"He wanted to ask me out." Kitty looked down at the phone. "Apparently he's just seen Magneto and his crew, and someone beat them all up." She looked up from the phone, and blinked, realizing that Scott was no longer alone.
"Someone beat up the Acolytes?" Kurt asked.
"Lance wants you to date him for the intel?" Jean asked.
"So, you gonna pump him for the information?" Boom Boom asked with a smirk.
"Tabitha!" Kitty retaliated angrily. She calmly started down the hall, deliberately phasing through the blonde as she went. "It's just pizza."
