So he'd dug a pit just like the book had said. It was nice and deep, though he had found that there was one part at least which was hard and dinged with his shovel. That was probably just a rock, or a pipe though, and could simply be ignored. What couldn't be forgotten was the starving cats, which were dumped in, and were followed by the student, duly wrapped in fish cakes and oil.
In went the boy, and then it was just a matter of time to wait for the boy to get stronger.
Except there was a slight problem.
As he stood there, waiting for the eventual success of his plan, the boy popped back out of the pit. He didn't simply pull himself out. Rather, he flew up and landed on the ground off to the side. Certain that the boy couldn't have learned the technique so soon, he went and dumped the boy back in.
Only the bundle popped back out faster than before.
Growling under his breath in frustration, he set upon trying a third time to put the squirming boy in to finish learning the technique.
He didn't make it this time, as something else bounded out of the pit and slammed into his gut, knocking him flat on his back, and out cold.
Frowning slightly as she looked at the fat human that she'd bumped into, the Ctarl-Ctarl warrior moved from the pit and back to the boy she'd saved. Finding a human child stuck like that wasn't something that she'd expected when she'd woken up, but then the fact that she'd been released from the pod at all was surprising. Only the fact that someone had dug to it had seemed to give her the chance to wake up.
Spying the child that she'd saved laying nearby, she went over to him and knelt there. She'd seen how bravely he'd acted when faced with such a situation, and something about the boy had made her feel... worry about him. It wasn't clear why, but she just felt a need to take him under her wing.
So she went over and began tearing off the ropes binding him.
Ranma just stared at his rescuer with his eyes as wide as could be.
"Don't worry, I'm going to take care of you," murmured:
