Nabiki may have been out of touch and out of practice since being in jail for Ranma's murder but she got back into the swing of things fast.
Much like Ranma's danger sense she had a feeling that there was much more to the murder of Ranma than it appeared.
She decided to start with Tofu, Ukyo and Kasumi. She found it hard to believe that her elder sister was the third murderer.
However, it made perfect sense if you thought about it. Kasumi had the run of the house and could have easily put those files on her computer. The ones detailing the murder of Ranma down to the last detail. Kasumi had to be the one who planted all that evidence to implicate Nabiki in the crime.
Both Ranma and Nabiki trusted her so they wouldn't think she would decieve them like this.
Nabiki would wager some new evidence would show up and clear her of the murder but her future would be bleak even with the new evidence that came to light.
Nabiki had a feeling that there was something more to it though. She didn't have much news on what happened in Nerima so she didn't know her family still owned their house and dojo. That was a surprise to the middle Tendo. There was no way that her fathers and two sisters could keep the family property.
She made it a habit to keep only six months of money in a bank account in Nerima. The rest of substantial holdings were in a Swiss bank that nobody but her could access. She check the account and sure enough it was all there.
She checked Kasumi's account and was amazed at the ammount that was there. She checked Tofu's and Ukyo's accounts after hacking into the bank. Sure enough there was a gigantic sum of money in both accounts.
She checked the dates of the first big deposit and sure enough it was less than a month after Ranma was murdered. The deposits may have been made on diferent days but it was a payoff to the three for a successful job done. It looked like someone with big money and a lot of connections wanted Ranma dead.
So with those clues she checked the suspects for a mastermind.
After checking both Genma and Nodoka to see if they had an insurance policy on Ranma. She crossed them of the list when she saw they didn't.
Soun and Akane were checked off. Not enough money.
Ryouga was checked off. Not enough money and to prone to get lost.
The Amazons were checked off as well. They may have had a lot of valuable jewels and gold but there was no record of them selling those jewels.
Kuno was eliminated. He may have had the money but there were no records of him transferring money to the three. Kodachi was also set up and sent to the loony bin.
One by one she crossed off the Nerima Wrecking Crew and the people he had fought. Saffron, Herb, and Tarou were all crossed off.
She knew someone out there that was powerful and rich paid a lot of money to have Ranma eliminated but there had to be more. Tofu and Ukyo she could understand.
Tofu was afraid Ranma would get Kasumi to love him and did it to keep Ranma away from Kasumi. Ukyo was probably waiting for Ranma to lower his guard since he showed that he was to strong to take down. Revenge for the insult to her and her honor.
'But what would make Kasumi murder Ranma like that and frame me?' Nabiki asked herself in her mind. She started to trace where the money came from.
