The 'Big Hunk' chocolate bars were magical candy you could buy at any Spells'R'Us franchise store. They were straight transformative spells turning you into the perfect man physically whether you were born one or not. However, canons of physical beauty were different from country to country and so they were generally altered to fit the local clientele's tastes.
For most japanese (especially young girls), the ideal male was the bishonen. Tall, handsome in an effeminate way, mature-looking, suave, strong, gentle under an abrasive/disdaining behavior, prone to romantic gestures... you get the idea.
Ranma Saotome, 17 years of age, now looked like what he would be if Ranma One Half had been drawn by CLAMP studio on a day of divine inspiration. When the girls and the women looked at him in the streets, he would appear to them surrounded by magnificent roses, highly romantic music and a literally sparkling killer smile. Add to this that his previous clothes had burst open, revealing a strong and lean male body granted by the gods themselves. Most fainted on the spot, the strong of will drooled and took pictures.
Some men reacted the same way. Yaoi is a staple of many bishonen manga stories after all.
