Above the facility that was rapidly disintegrating, the harsh, unforgiving valley was undergoing nightfall, and the place became still.
A stillness that was broken by footstep coming from two individuals.
One appeared to be a man of Russian descent in his 40s, as his silver colored hair could attest. He was dressed in a modified version of Carlos's U.B.C.S. outfit, and had a Beretta strapped to his right leg and a Goliath machete in his other hand. The other man appeared to be younger... or at least that was what could be inferred from his voice only, since his black, gas-mask complimented outfit didn't exactly show who he was or what he looked like. In his right hand was a custom-made Beretta with the word "Mathilda" painted on it.
Their mission was simple: Infiltrate the lab and destroy it, taking out any possible resistance. Ever since Goldman had caused the loss of Sheena Island due to his own rage and poor judgement, Umbrella did not want a repeat performance. Finding any of the Anti-Umbrella Team was a bonus, particularly the renegade U.B.C.S. member Carlos Oliviera, and the ex-S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine, both of whom had been sighted in this area with the Tendo girl Nabiki.
Nicholai had been especially eager to take this mission. Jill and Carlos had been a thorn in his side ever since the incident at Raccoon City, where the two had survived everything that could possibly be thrown at them and the Nemesis. He had managged to get to the spare helicopter first, and left them to their supposed deaths. Instead, fellow ex-S.T.A.R.S. member Barry Burton had gone to rescue Jill and Carlos, and they had escaped the nuclear holocaust Raccoon City became.
This time, Nicholai would make sure to put them down.
HUNK had been forced to accompany him on request of Ozwell Spencer. Spencer would have sent the rest of the U.B.C.S. with him, but no one wanted to work with the traitor. Murphy Seeker and Tyrell Patrick were testimony of his greed and ruthlessness. So Spencer was forced to send Umbrella's best agent to accompany him... and to ensure that Nicholai wasn't sidetracked by his revenge.
At that very moment, they reached the facility entrance through the mines, and entered. Little did they know that the situation was worse than anyone knew...
