Setsuna's New Life: Ranma's former weapon [Episode 115793]

by Kestral

Something burning? Ranma slowly drew his way out of his slumber to blink weary eyes at...

"AGGHHHHHHH!"

Genma poked at the fire. "Ah, brings back memories. Eh, Tendo?"

"There's something about fire-warmed sake," agreed Soun.

Ranma looked at the two pieces of bokutoh that were becoming ash even as he watched. Flecks drifting away amongst the rubbish the two fathers were burning.

"sacred wood, blessed at a shrine... " mumbled Ranma, seeing his chance to show that Ranma Saotome didn't lose (the second time at least) going up in smoke.

"Oh really, Saotome," scoffed Nabiki, the venomous contempt in her tone quite obvious to anyone with an IQ bigger than their shoe size, "you make up one story after another. First this fetishist fantasy about magical cheerleaders in short skirts fighting monsters, when everyone knows the Sailor Senshi are just that - fantasies of hormonally addled teenage boys. Now you come in with a wooden sword claiming you'll avenge your previous defeat. Accept it. You got your butt whipped. It isn't like it doesn't happen normally on a regular basis anyway."

"Hah?" Ranma asked, feeling a bit numb and in shock despite things like this happening regularly in his life anyway.

"Akane beat you just now, and she defeats you on a regular basis," pointed out Nabiki. "Ranma Saotome doesn't lose - except against Akane and just about every challenger that comes by - at least once. Get over yourself Saotome."

"Gah?" said Ranma.

"Hmmmm, may have been a bit too honest there," said Nabiki, shrugging after a moment. "I'll charge you for the lesson in life later."

"Hah?" asked Ranma as Nabiki left.

"Pass me the bottle there," said Soun to Genma as the fire continued to blaze merrily away.

Sailor Pluto nodded, glancing at the Garnet Orb briefly.

The Senshi had seen it in operation once. She'd used its power to link their minds and show them Rei's visions of destruction when they'd been going up against Pharoah 90, when Mimette had come up with that planetarium daimon. Of course, an Orb that granted the wielder some telepathic abilities could use it for other means.

Putting a bug up Akane's butt, figuratively speaking. Easier done than said.

Now Ranma would have his face rubbed in the fact that he was a pathetic loser, that his pride in being the best martial artist was misplaced. She might have to repeat the lesson, but eventually it would take. Then he'd give into despair and suicide was a distinct possibility. That his fate had tangled with the Senshi during that paradox effect couldn't be allowed to stand.

He wouldn't cross the path of the Senshi, and all would be well. Just the occasional checking in while she tended to other matters, a nudge here and there, and she'd keep everything nice and orderly and without the threat to her future.

Ranma sat back on the roof, wondering why he had even bothered. Well, he knew the reason actually - he'd wanted to show off his new training.

Now he was without the edge that had taken so long to develop.

His thoughts chased each other in loops until he decided:
