Yeh Lo waited irritably for the bungling trio of ninja to escape the smoke cloud but they remained inside coughing and wheezing. "I can't help but feel I should be insulted by this." They were beating themselves with their own smoke bombs!
Cough! Cough! "To much sulfur in the smoke!"
Hack! "My eyes, they burn!"
Thump. Thud. Flop.
Yeh Lo sighed and cast a minor incantation to blow away the smoke. While it would be fitting to let them suffocate, that would be what her previous self would do not her current self. When the cloud of heavy black smoke had been dissipated she looked down at the three unconscious ninja. Maybe I should have made myself out to be a bit more impressive in the dream I sent. She just had to hope she had underplayed her threat level because these could not be the best ninja that the sect could have sent after her. Though it could be a matter of reality not lining up with dogma. That was an issue with knowing details about religions concerned with the Phoenix. Not everyone was serious about their religion and she wasn't privy to all information, only general overviews.
After a last glance at the three and realizing that the 'rescue' plan was a flop Yeh Lo returned her attention to her map try to find her way. These maps would be more useful from the air. Maybe I should have gotten better directions from Kiima.
After wandering a bit and double checking street names she began to get frustrated. She was sure she had passed this shop twice already, why was she having such a hard time finding the apartment Kiima had set up for her? With a groan the currently young goddess flopped onto a bench to rest her feet and try to figure out just why she couldn't seem to get where she wanted. She nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard a voice above her.
"That map won't help ya much."
Yel Lo bolted from the bench and turned, hands raised in readiness but she froze at the sight of her prince... Who was at the moment her princess. Ranma was perched high up on the wall the bench she had used was against, looking at her with a sheepish smile. She was in a baggy version of the jacket the communists liked so much though it was in a green that made her hair and eyes 'pop' quite nicely. Our hair almost matches. Was the idle thought that passed trough Yel Lo's mind as she tried to get it working properly again.
"Sorry ta scare ya like that. But I wouldn't bother with the map for a while. Some jerk has been practicing Martial Arts Pranking and changing around the street signs."
"Well. That explains why I'm lost then." Yel Lo said dumbly.
Ranma just nodded and jumped down from the wall to land lightly in front of her. She then shuffled around to invade Yel Lo's personal space by looking at the map by leaning over her arm. "Where ya tryin ta get to?"
Yel Lo buckled down and tried not to show signs of excitement at Ranma's physical closeness. Luckily it would have come off as simply being a bit nervous around a stranger... or it would have if Ranma wasn't totally oblivious anyway. So she just pointed out the apartment block Kiima had set her up in. "I need to get here and find my new apartment. Then maybe find a place to buy some new clothes."
"Yeah, looks like ya been headin away from there." Ranma idly scritched at her chin a moment then pointed what looked like quite a ways from Yel Lo's destination. "We're here right now."
Yel Lo was glad to finally know where she was and smiled brightly to Ranma as she offered polite bow. "My name is Yel Lo and you have my thanks for your help..."
"Oh." Ranma awkwardly returned the bow. "Name's Ranma. Nice ta meet ya."
"Likewise." Yeh Lo paused a moment as she considered her situation. There is more than one way to be rescued. She thought with an internal smile as she asked a question in a simple and polite tone. "If it's not to much trouble, do you think you could show me the way?"
Ranma 'hemmed' as she considered it then nodded. "Sure, I got some free time so I can show ya how ta get there."
"Thank you." Yeh Lo smiled again.
Ranma stared at the young woman in front of her and for a moment found the fleeting thought that she was sort of cute. Of course that thought had to be ruthlessly beaten down and tossed in the cellar as Ranma spun on her heel. "Right! Off we go then!" Yeh Lo set off after the shorter girl with a slight bounce in her step.
As Ranma played tour guide...
