Resident Ranma: Blooded Bullets [Episode 11657]

by Thrythlind

"We shall have to infuse the bullets," Cologne said, sighing irritably.

"Run that by me again?" Carlos asked.

"We shall have to fill the bullets of your gun with chi," Cologne said.

"Excuse me," Jill said irritably. "Why didn't you do that earlier if you could have?"

"There is a downside," Cologne said. Nabiki was too busy hacking the terminals to pay much attention, but she caught what she needed.

"What is it?" Leon asked.

"This is a trick from a Japanese-Irish witch I knew once," Cologne said. "She was rather an active FBI agent at the time. She runs her family's tavern now."

"She went from an FBI agent to a tavern owner?" Jill asked, not bothering with the witch part of the discussion.

"Only part of it dwells with in this realm, child," Cologne said. "She and her coven command a realm apart from Earth roughly the size of Texas, and it sits on the boarder between our world and others, with the Tavern in the center. I'd say she's doing a much more important job guarding that access."

"Uh huh," Leon said. "What about the downside."

"The downside is that I am no witch," Cologne said. There was some quiet snickering from Nabiki, followed shortly by a small rap on the head and a brief interjection of surprise and pain. "I never did accurately translate what she did with her blood magic into using chi. The bullets will fade over time, and I lack the power to infuse all your ammunition. The process I developed lacks efficiency, another reason I dislike it."

Genma cleared his throat.

"Perhaps I can aid with that?" Genma suggested. Cologne considered for a moment and then nodded.

"Fine," Cologne said. "This will give you roughly 3 hours of useable time, after that, the chi will fade from the weapons."

"If you're through," Nabiki said, her voice pale. "I've found something. I don't know what's going on now, because someone's cut off the internal lab's power, but I can tell you what they were trying to do."

"Report," Carlos said.

"They were trying to create a countermeasure to the T-Virus," Nabiki said. "They captured several 'specimens' and induced 'dormant mutations' that, instead of being destroyed by the T-Virus, would instead force an evolutionary reaction from the specimen."

"What sort of 'evolutionary reaction,'" Jill asked.

"They would...transform into..." Nabiki said hesitantly. "Something...capable of facing the creatures on even footing, without worrying about infections or poisons. There are nine test subjects, eight for T-Virus, divided four times, and one for something called G-Virus..."

"G-Virus?!" Leon gasped, remembering his brush with that in Raccoon City.

"Hai," Nabiki said. "The purpose is to produce warriors capable of performing missions in T-Virus infested regions without concern. With the secondary purpose to produce shock troopers for other actions. The...T-Counters, theoretically, fade into a near human form after enough time has passed without exposure to the T-Virus, and so they can be transported with minimal fuss. All previous 'evolutions' are supposed to return in full with each exposure to the Virus, and each exposure brings new 'evolutions.'"

"Dear God," Jill said. "Things immune to the T-Virus..."

"Things that can think," Nabiki said. "If I read this correctly. Not mindless drones. The plan is to test the process with these 'children,' eliminate them when the test is finished, if necessary, and go to the next phase of development."

"What are the names on this list?" Genma asked.

"T-Counter Alpha=1, prototype serial number," and she said that with disgusted twist of her lip. "493-1293-39211-21. Ranma. T=Counter Alpha-2, serial number 493-1293-39211-22, Kodachi. T-Counter Beta-1 serial number, 493-1293-39211-23, Ryouga. T-Counter Beta-2, serial number 493-1293-39211-24 Akane..." and Nabiki's voice almost broke. "Kami, what have they done to you little sister."

"Are you fine, Ms Tendo?" Carlos asked. Nabiki nodded firmly and continued.

"T-Counter Gamma, serial number 493-1293-39211-25, Shampoo," Nabiki continued. "T-Counter Gamma, serial number 493-1293-39211-26, Konatsu. T-Counter Delta, serial number 493-1293-39211-27, Ukyou. T-Counter Delta, serial number 493-1293-39211-28, Tatewaki. G-Counter serial number 493-1293-39251-41, Hinako. Kami...they messed with HER?! She was already a monster!"

((AN: The witch I referred to is an old Mage NPC I had...one of the ideas about her I liked was the whole blooded bullets thing))
