Quagmire ½ : Informing the Wife [Episode 116572]

by Red Priest of the 17th Order

“Okay Jeremy... Keep calm... Keep calm...” The Feeple patriarch told himself as he walked slowly down the halls of the Quagmire-based Salusian Embassy. He was sweating quite profusely. [The A.C. is on, yet it's boiling hot!]

And that was understandable. After all, he had to tell his wife what he’d done concerning their babies!

“Mom was no help,” Jeremy groused. He had gone to his mother’s Dojo to get her expert opinion concerning his dealing with a Japanese martial artist. And according to his mother... He was up chocolate creek without a Popsicle stick.

Sighing, Jeremy knew there wasn’t going to be an easy way out of this engagement, so it would be best to try and ease his kids into it. And the very thought made him feel like a total heel. “I didn’t like it when I was being forced to marry Ichi,” Jeremy mentally groused. “I had no right to do it to my kids either...”

Shaking his head, The Feeple father knew it was too late now. So best to try and first ease his wife into it.

So, raising a shaking hand, Jeremy knocked on the door to his wife’s office.

“Come in,” Came the voice of a woman that he knew all too well. Jeremy winced. How was he going to explain this to her, without some serious repercussions at the least? He blinked when Asrial opened the door herself, looking a little annoyed, which quickly disappeared when she saw him. “Jeremy! How are you?” She asked, smiling brightly. “Did you come over here to make me feel better?” She asked, smirking. Hey, if her husband was there, she could get out of work and have some... Personal fun.

“Uh...” Jeremy was unsure of how to answer that. Great. His wife was already tense...

...Tense...

“Wait a minute!” Jeremy mentally screamed as a thought came to him. It was a long shot, but it just might work!

“Yes, honey!” Jeremy said quickly as he started moving towards his wife. “I mean, how long’s it been since I visited my honey-skunk during work?”

Asrial blinked, before smiling. “Far too long,” She said, walking up to him and hugging him. “So, what’s the occasion?” She asked, breathing into his ear. Just because she was a mother of three didn’t mean her libido was dead.

Chuckling nervously, Jeremy hugged his wife back gently, his hands moving up and down her back. “Well... It was quite a day for me...” He said slowly, making sure to work his fingers along his wife’s spine. “And I knew I should be with you...”

Asrial closed her eyes and churred, before leaning onto her husband, smiling. “Aww... That’s sweet of you. You came to make your wife happy.”

Nodding his head rapidly, Jeremy was starting to sweat again. “Right. I just love my wife...” He said with a nervous tinge to his voice, one that only a person blind, deaf, and dumb would miss.

Asrial was none of those and frowned lightly. “Honey? What’s wrong?” It wasn’t just his voice that was making her worry, he was tense for some odd reason. “Don’t tell me that Stanley’s come back again,” She said, knowing what that would mean for Kassy and Lexus.

“No of course not!” Jeremy said quickly. Damn, had that ever been a pain in the ass. Come to think of it, his whole life was crazy, and it really started that day Ichikoo came to America and Asrial landed on earth...

“...Wait a minute...” Jeremy thought. Maybe he could pass this off as a good thing? It was a long-shot, but...

Why not?

“So then, what’s wrong?” Asrial asked. She hadn’t seen him this wound up in a long time, since they were teenagers and she and Ichi were fighting over him.

“Nothing!” Jeremy shouted in a high-pitched voice. Coughing a little, he repeated in a much normal voice, “Nothing. It’s just... Remember all the fun we used to have when we were kids?”

Asrial leaned back and looked her husband in the eyes. Sweat dropping, she raised an eyebrow and chuckled lightly. “That’s... One way to put it. With Ichi and I trying to kill each other, and everything else...” She left the sentence hanging, smirking.

Jeremy chuckled nervously. “Fun, right?”

“What’s wrong, honey? Come on, you can tell me.” Dang it, seeing Jeremy like this was really starting to make her worried about him. “Did something bad happen?”

“No, nothing bad happened... Per say...” Jeremy chuckled. “But, wouldn’t it be nice if the kids could experience the same joys we did when we were younger?” He was still angling to get his wife with some nostalgia, and failing miserably.

“Like what?” The Salusian asked, convinced now that something really bad was about to happen. “Don’t tell me that the Zardonians sent a letter to you and now you have to marry one of our children to one of their royal family members?” She asked, chuckling. As if that would happen in a million years.

“Of course not!” Jeremy said firmly...

...Right before deflating in defeat. “It was with a Japanese martial artist...”

Asrial smirked. She didn’t think so eith... Her smirk died a painful death as her mind registered what he had just said. “What?” She asked, her voice showing how much disbelief was going through her body at that moment.

Nodding his head, Jeremy told Asrial the truth outright. “Years ago, when your family was keeping you and the children from me... I was sad and drunk awhile... Really drunk... I met a man who was just as badly off and we bonded through our sorrows and drunkenness...” Jeremy shook his head. “Somehow, we decided it would be a good idea to band together if we ever got out lives and families back together...” He chuckled nervously. “And apparently, Genma was dead-serious about it...”

Asrial’s eye twitched lightly. Yes, she couldn’t blame him, hell, she herself wanted to drown her sorrows in booze too, but her family wouldn’t let her; said it wasn’t dignified for a Salusian of her standing. She couldn’t blame him for drinking... Still... “Why didn’t you tell me?” She asked, feeling hurt.

Chuckling nervously, Jeremy gave her the honest-to-God truth. “I would’ve but... Eh heh... I forgot...”

“But... Why?” Asrial asked, sighing. Darn it, she hadn’t expected her husband to make such a foolish mistake like this. He seemed more reasonable than that.

Lowering his head, Jeremy looked ashamed. “... Asrial... At the time... I don’t know why...” Jeremy shook his head. “It gave me hope...”

Asrial sighed. “Hope that you would one day beat the odds and get back together with me and our children, right?”

Jeremy nodded his head. “Yeah... And as the years passed, and we had such joy in our life... And another child, little Lyra...” Jeremy let out another sigh. “That promise just went to the back of my mind; forgotten.”

Asrial sighed, before rubbing her forehead. She couldn’t blame her husband. Even if he had made a mistake like that, how could she? If she was in his position, she might have done the same thing. “Jeremy...” She began.

Jeremy winced. Here it came. The pounding he so righteously deserved. “...Asrial?”

“I forgive you,” She said, smiling at his look of shock. Asrial’s face then took a serious cast to it. “However, we won’t force the issue. Whether it’s Lexus or Kassy, we’ll let them get to know this Genma person’s child. If they don’t want the engagement, then we’ll break it. Understood?”

Nodding his head, Jeremy had a shell-shocked expression to it, before a smile blossomed. “I should’ve known the level-headed love of my life would think of something...”

Asrial smirked. “Yeah. You should have.” She’d make her children at least give this a fair chance. But for now... “Get in here.” She grinned, pulling Jeremy in and closing the door. After hearing about that, she needed to ‘work’ off some of her stress.
