Koenma shook his head in frustration as he looked at Ranma's profile. The kid's profile was thicker than his old man's was at his age and Koenma thought he'd never see something like that. Of course, Koenma had also never thought he'd have to deal with a spawn of Yusuke Urameshi. The King of Spirit World considered considered his former employee and fellow royal to be a good friend; under penalty of damnation Koenma would even admit he thought a Yusuke like a brother. However, that did not mean he wanted to deal with Yusuke having a brat of his own!
Rubbing his temples to relieve the building stress, Koenma reread the section concerning Ranma's birth. He then thought back around the time Ranma would have to have been conceived and frowned. "Oh dear," Koenma muttered to himself. "I thought we had taken care of all the troubles from the Black Black Club's destruction."
Eighteen years ago, the gang had been in high spirits when the First Makai Tournament finished and a human friendly king had been declared over all of Makai. Yusuke had returned to Earth planning on living out his days with Keiko. However, the Black Black Club had Keiko killed and her body incinerated barely a month after she was reunited with Yusuke. It was their opening move to try and get rid of Yusuke and reassert their control over Earth's dealings with Makai. Everyone, even Koenma himself who lent as many of Reikai's forces as he could spare, went to war with that insidious group until they were all dead and their souls locked away in the worst prison Reikai had.
Of course, avenging Keiko's death didn't really make up for the group being unable to resurrect her. Yusuke had fallen in a depression. The only reason he got out of it was a deal Koenma gave him after talking to the Mazoku after one really bad night. Precisely what went on that night, Koenma didn't know and he didn't want to know. Yusuke only mentioned heavy drinking and waking up in bed next to one of his mom's party friends. That had been enough for Reikai king to let Keiko's spirit out of Reikai so that she and Yusuke could be together in his Makai holdings.
"Just my luck," Koenma muttered. "Why did Mystique have to lay low at one of Atsuko's parties and sleep with Yusuke? Now I've got to deal with a high powered martial artist with a dormant X-gene and a royal demonic bloodline. Hey, maybe I'll be lucky and they'll stay dormant in Ranma. Maybe I'll be lucky, what the hell am I talking about? The kid's a Urameshi, there's no way he'll let me get off that easy."
Koenma then put the folder away and picked up his phone. He then muttered while he dialed, "There's no use hiding so I might as well get this over with. Hopefully, Yusuke will get most of the heat from this. Ranma is his kid after all."
