Several months ago...
Pegasus looked at the business reports, and frowned heavily. Duel Monsters sales were starting to drop. Sure, sales went down by twelve percent, but it was still bad for business. Not to mention there were still problems setting up Dungeon Dice Dueling arenas in Tokyo, Los Angeles, and London due to programming bugs.
"Something has to be done," Pegasus told himself. "Thank heavens that the Anubis and Doma fiascoes didn't hurt business as bad as I thought they would. Maybe I should think this over watching cartoons..."
Suddenly, Pegasus froze where he was. "Cartoons? That's it!" Quickly rummaging through the pile of magazines beside his desk, he pulled out an old copy of Toyfare magazine and stared at the cover. "Several popular 1980's cartoons and toys are coming back by popular demand. So, who's to say I can't try getting in on this phenomena?"
Pegasus pressed down hard his intercom button. "Hold all my calls until further notice," he paged to his secretary. There was much to do; phone calls had to be made, the checkbook had to be brought out (hopefully, Industrial Illusions wouldn't go bankrupt for this), and of course, a poll or two had to be set up.

Present Day...
No one could imagine how pleased Pegasus was when he found out the exact numbers of votes were made for his poll. It would be worth the millions he would have to pay for the rights to use the winning series for Duel Monsters.
Amazingly, and sadly, there were a good chunk of voters who wanted Robotech to be used. If only they new how much money the copyright owners wanted for their title to be used. Pegasus made a note to hold further calls from the Robotech people from now until forever.
There were also a number of votes for G.I.Joe. Depending on the votes, and if Pegasus's hunch was right, he could probably combine G.I.Joe with the winner.
The intercom buzzed. "Mr. Pegasus, sir?"
"...Go ahead, Croquet."
"The final results are in, sir. Shall I tell you the winning title?"
"...No. I'll find out when I make the worldwide announcement. Please make the arrangements."
"Sir!"

"Come on, we put off our date long enough!"
"Date?!"
Anzu hadn't taken two steps before a loud, familiar voice boomed throughout the city. "Greetings, people of the world!"
People crowded at any nearby TVs, whether in stores, or ones placed on the sides of buildings. Before Anzu could say or do anything, Rebecca had grabbed Yugi and taken him away, followed by Jounochi and Honda. "Hey, Yugi, wait-!" DAMMIT!!
"Anzu, aren't you going to see what's up?"
Anzu looked over at Kaiba, and then turned away, shutting her eyes and tilting her head up. "I've had enough of Duel Monsters to last a lifetime! You can tell Yugi he can call me when he gets over the stupid game. Goodbye!" With that, she walked off, ignoring Pegasus's broadcast.
"First of all, I would like to personally thank everyone who participated in my poll. Industrial Illusions received so many votes, both online and mailed entries, it's lucky we kept the limit number of times one can vote just to five. It's also lucky we counted the votes as they came in, so it took less time seeing who won.
"Before I announce the winner, I wish to inform all of you that each voter will receive a free pack of reprinted Duel Monsters cards as my way of saying thank you. Each will have twelve cards per pack, one of which will be autographed by yours truly.
"And now, the moment you and I have all been waiting for! I will now announce the winner of our poll, and the next booster series of Duel Monsters. The envelope, please?
"...and the winner is..."
