"Excuse me," said the master of the house. "I need to know a few things."
"Ranma Saotome. Mamluk Yojimbo, Class B. Sixteen years old. Specialization in Saotome Style Anything Goes, Tenken Style Kenjutsu, Saeba Style Handgun Specialization, and twelve other martial arts styles. Do you require further details?"
Soun blinked at the response. "How much do you know about the contract?"
"My father arranged a yojimbo contract for a standard five years," said Ranma, aware that two of the daughters were out of direct line of sight but listening. Kasumi was within sight, but apparently not listening.
"The contract has some unusual features," began Soun Tendo.
"I'm only aware of the standard clauses. If I fail to protect her life, seppuku is required of me," said Ranma. "For the next five years I will do whatever is necessary to protect her, with the usual exclusions for her profession."
Kasumi revealed that she was listening. "Profession?"
"She's a martial artist," said Ranma. "Heir of the Tendo school. If she is harmed or killed in a declared match where standard rules apply - it is not my concern but her own. If she accepts such a fight, I am not required to take any action. If she is killed, it becomes an early buy out of my contract. Likewise, if she orders me to not take action, it absolves any responsibility on my part with the possible exception of a vengeance quest on my own discretion. I am not a full use slave, so there are a number of support duties I can perform but a great many things she cannot order me to perform."
"Ah," said Soun, getting out a contract. "This is your contract. If you check this section here, you see a modification that was added."
