While he was certain he was allowed a generous amount of leeway, considering what he had done for the dojo and the Tendos in the past, it was a bit of a leap to think that it was a good idea to bring yet another person -- and a girl, at that -- in. Where was she going to stay, anyway?
He was still mulling this over when he spotted Kasumi standing before the doorway, anxiously looking for someone. "Hiya," he called out quietly, trying not to wake his sleeping passenger. "Um. What's up?"
Kasumi blinked, and then smiled sweetly at the little girl, and again for Ranma. "I was hoping I'd get a chance to talk to you before you went inside," Kasumi explained. "Ranma ... I want you to know something. Akane helped cook dinner tonight."
He blinked at that, then frowned. "I prolly shouldn't wake her up for that," he deduced quietly.
Kasumi's smile was slightly strained, but she nodded eager agreement. "However, Ranma ... where will she sleep?"
Ranma furrowed his brow in thought for a while. "I'm not sure," he finally admitted. "I'm gonna need ta think about this."
"I imagine so," Kasumi said, nodding. "Why doesn't she stay in my room until you decide?"
"Okay," Ranma agreed, nodding. That would give him a few days to try and sort this out. It wasn't like he could just ignore a responsibility dropped on him by.... Well. His boss, he supposed, but his boss was a lot stricter than many others.
He moved to enter the house, but Kasumi said, "Ranma -- I think it might be best if ... your daughter didn't know that Akane had cooked. I wouldn't want her to feel bad for thinking that Akane had gone to this extra effort." Ranma nodded, and then caught himself.
If Akane was cooking to try and impress Hotaru, that meant he'd need to be on her guard. While he doubted (at least, now) that Akane's cooking would outright kill anyone, Urd had mentioned that the girl on his back had "health problems". He'd need to be on his guard until he had time to read through that cube, and while he didn't like the idea of leaving the girl unattended, if anyone could watch over her for him it'd be Kasumi.
"Now," he grumbled, furrowing his brow. "Heroic duty number one: leave no leftovers to challenge the survival of my daughter."
"I'm sorry, Ranma?" Kasumi asked, looking slightly confused. "I didn't catch that."
"Nothing," he said, shaking his head. "Let's get Hotaru-chan in your room, and then I'll face my destiny. I mean, dinner."
Kasumi smiled and nodded, leading the way inside.
