Zor's Bet - Liberty Station: Brigadier General meets Brigadier General [Episode 120891]

by DeputyJones

1.58 pm GMT, Monday, July 22, 2004 AD. - Liberty Station, L5 Langrage Point, Earth Moon gravitational system

"USS Prometheus, this is Liberty Control. You are cleared for docking in Space Port G-227. Proceed on present course until you clear the port entrance. We'll take it from there."

"Roger that Liberty Control. Clearing spaceport entrance in 3.. 2.. 1.. cleared. Now reversing direction to come to complete stop. Done. Shutting down maneuvering thrusters. You're in control Liberty."

"Confirmed. Deploying docking clamps and embarkation tube. Welcome to Space Station Liberty."

General O'Neil fidgeted at the entrance to the airlock where the tube was to connect the station to the ship. Once the preliminary cautious greetings had been extended between both parties, Kowen had recommended a face-to-face meeting. Jack knew the higher ups in his government would probably leave both Kowen and himself hanging for an indefinite period of time were he to contact them for orders, so he did what he was good at: he improvised.

In other words, he agreed to come aboard, regardless of the fact that the Head of the Joint Chiefs would probably shit a brick when he found out.

A "thunk" came from the other side of the hatch and the door opened, s slight breeze whooshing into the Prometheus as the air pressure equalized. Standing on the other side of the small tube was man wearing a military jumpsuit/uniform.

"Welcome General O'Neil. I am Lieutenant Commander Quincy Bates. I'll be escorting you and your 'entourage'-" nodding toward Doctor Jackson and Colonel Carter, "-to the meeting room. We'll be taking a jeep to get there. This way please."

Following the man, the former teamates of SG-1 couldn't help but notice the state the station was in. Here and there were piles of what were obviously different missle types. They were arranged, not in a manner for storage, but in a way that seemed ready for deployment.

Although they kept quiet about it, they were understandably nervous.

After walking across the bottom of the docking bay for five minutes, they reached a what looked like a normal, Earth-style militar jeep. It was even green. On its side was a red circle with bisected white arrow.

It took an entire twelve minutes to reach the conferance room. Entering, they saw the same symbol on the jeep was displayed on the far wall surrounded by the 'olive branches of peace' like the UN symbol. On either side of the rather large room were monitor screens the size of small theatre screens. One was showing a picure of the Earth and the right was showing the present positions of Liberty's ships.

The man who Jack spoke with before, a General Kowen, around 5' 10", walked over to them.

"Brigadier General John Kowen, Robotech Defense Forces, Commander of Liberty Station." He gave a polite salute.

Jack returned the salute. "Brigadier General Jack O'Neil, United States Air Force, Commander of Stargate Command."

The two shook hands. Afterwards, Kowen offered them all a seat around the conference table.

Jack decided to start off. "So, what are ya doing in our neck of the woods? Just passing through?" Sam and Daniel rolled their eyes.

"Not exactly. You see, we're actuall confused as to how we came to be here as well."

Jack nodded. "Alright. Care to expand on that?"

Kowen sighed. 'This,' he thought, 'is going to be interesting'.

Back in the Command Center...

Chief Sensor Technician Huxley was bored. Not too uncommon a condition really. Under normal circumstances it would be nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, she was thinking a little too loudly for her own good.

'Dammit! Why won't something just HAPPEN?!'

***************************************************************

In Asguard, an annoying elder god with a penchant for mischief overheard her. Deciding to grant the lady her wish, he made sure Zor was looking away before dipping his claw in the pool.

"Beep! Beep! Beep!"

"Huh?" Huxley looked down at her board. "We have incoming contacts! Notify the General!"

Through all of this, she wondered why she felt a sense of guilt.
