Slowly the elevator beneath the large Hangar ten raised upwards, while the equally large doors of the Hangar were opened. With the familiar high pitched whine of numerous jet turbines, sixteen black shapes slowly moved out of the Hangar and out into the open. Behind them a larger shape moved out of the hangar. While the black shapes could be something that was build on Earth, the larger shape clearly wasn't and neither of the shapes had any markings.
"Black Eagle Leader, this is Control. You are cleared for take-off. Good luck with the operation."
"Roger that, Control. Taxing to runway."
A short pause was on the radio.
"We can use that luck. Black Eagle Leader out."
As the small shapes slowly moved towards the runway, the morning sun set them of against the background. Each of the shapes was a single wing design with two vertical stabilizers on the rear. It's fore- and downwards swept wings had a wingspan of maybe 12 meters and the whole shape was 10 meters long and four meters high. Six missiles that looked like AIM-120 AMRAAM were hanging from the wings hard points, while a few rotatable weapons pod hung under its nose.
If someone from Area 51 would see the shapes he would identify them as F-302 Intercepters of the B-variant, that currently only existed on paper. They had more powerful engines, six hard points and the weapons pod could be swept backwards and downwards to allow taking out fighter on the F-302B's rear or on the ground with her two sychronized M61A2 20mm Vulcans. That particular bit of design came from an engineer that had watched to much 'Space 2063: Above and Beyond'.
The bigger shape had a vaguely pyramid-like shape and was as big as a Boeing 747 or a B-52. This was an Goa'uld Al'Kesh Mid-range Bomber. This particular Al'Kesh had been in the assault against the Nimitz Carrier Group and one of the Nimiz' CIWS had been lucky to just take out the cockpit of the Bomber and kill pilot and copilot. Out of control, the Al'Kesh had crashed a few miles before the coast and the NID had taken their sweet time to salvage it. With a new cockpit window, it was only a matter of a few weeks to get it into fighting condition.
This was a NID flight and they had been ordered to fly to the large object that had appeared in L5 and find out if it was hostile or not and infiltrate it, if possible, to salvage technology. It this worked, the NID would be back with a bang.
No one knew that this mission would only succeed because everyone would be busy with Makentos.

1.45 pm GMT, Monday, July 22, 2004 AD. - Liberty Station, L5 Langrage Point, Earth Moon gravitational system
Kowen still looked at the view screen that showed the Prometheus. He would be damned if he knew what would happen next. He closed his eyes for a moment. The four ships he had ordered to dock out were now positioned between the Prometheus and Liberty, one Ikazuchi, two Tristars and one Battle.
Maybe he should try and contact that ship?
"Sir? The ship is trying to contact us. On an old NATO frequency."
Kowen blinked. So much for that. He sighed.
"Put it through."
Another view screen in the front lit up, showing a man in his fourties, slightly grayed hair and in an old US Combat BDU. He grinned a bit stupidly and gave the command crew of Liberty a Vulcan Greeting from one of the TV shows Kowen had watched en masse when he was a kid, Star Trek. Kowen also noted that the room around the man looked a bit like the bridge of the USS Enterprise from Star Trek and that the man in 'The Chair' looked like McGyver, only older.
"Hi," the man on the screen said," Nice... uhm... Death Star you got there."
Kowen blinked again and tilted his head. He hadn't really thought that the 'First Contact' would be like this.
"Uhm... I guess..." was all he could give back and the grin of the man grew a bit.
"I hope you don't want to blast Earth with some sort of superweapon from your Death Star."
Kowen nodded and than shook his head at the Star Wars reference.
"We are," he said," If not you would be history already."
The man nodded and grinned even more.
"I'm Jack. Welcome to our part of the galaxy."
