The doctor nodded. "Yes, well, this is hardly what I had expected myself."
Hiroyuki nodded, looking over the forms. Had this woman really meant to put herself down as a temporary full-use slave to a teenage martial artist? Not that similar situations hadn't occurred prior to this, but it was definitely unusual.
Kumori looked off in the distance. She disliked doing this to her own daughter, but it might be the only way to get Ami over the situation and resolve things. Once she'd worked through that, she'd be able to concentrate on her studies again. "It's for the best, I think."
"Are you sure? This level of conditioning here," said Hiroyuki, "is stronger than what would typically be used."
"It's necessary, she's quite shy," said Kumori Mizuno.
"Is your daughter OK with this?" asked Hiroyuki, wondering why a doctor would do this to herself. Maybe she needed a break from the pressure and responsibility?
"I've checked with her, and I think this is something she wants but won't admit to - at least aloud."
Hiroyuki nodded. "You really want this contract to go through? Why?"
"Because I understand how it is," said the Doctor, blushing slightly. "When I was young I fantasized about such things myself. Now though, all the worries and work and responsibilities..."
Hiroyuki sat back. Ah. An old fantasy and now she felt herself breaking under the pressures of her employment. He did understand that working in a hospital could be stressful. This would be sort of a vacation for the woman. Well, good enough. "How soon did you want to begin?"
"Immediately if possible," said Doctor Mizuno. The sooner Ami got this out of her system, the better.
"Very well then," agreed Hiroyuki, pressing a button. "If you'll go with the orderly, we'll set things up right away."
Kumori Mizuno slowly came awake, her surroundings slowly focussing from fuzzy imagery to clear.
When she heard the doorknob rattle, she immediately assumed The Position.
"She had several reactions to the treatment," said an older man as he entered the room with a younger one. "Extremely receptive, rather more so than we'd expected."
"Well that clears the last doubts I had then," said Hiroyuki, also barely glancing at the woman posing. "She looks younger somehow."
"We don't completely understand why some women go through that," said the doctor. "When her contract is up, she'll still retain some of the physical changes. I don't understand it myself - some completely professional and highly regarded women deciding to go this route and then after 'dabbling' in this life go on to make permanent their change in status. Doesn't seem to make sense."
"Doctor, there are so many things in life that seem completely illogical that I gave up on looking for deeper meanings long ago," said Hiroyuki. "At ease, slave."
Kumori relaxed her position, but kept her eyes down.
"What about the daughter?" asked the doctor. "How is she dealing with it?"
"That's something else," said Hiroyuki. "She just seemed to go into shock and mumbled something about it not being fair that she didn't get to participate."
"Must run in the family," said the doctor. "Well, we'll just have transport deliver her. Considering some of the initial tests, it'll be two or three days before she's settled enough to return to work. If her Master permits, of course."
