Five SC-32 Gossamer Transport shuttles floated in the large derbies field what had been left behind by the, quite one sided, firefight between a small fleet of Liberty ships and the assault force of the minor System Lord Makentos. The job of these shuttles was easy to explain. They carried technicians from Liberty who were ordered to look through the derbies and pick up the stuff that could be used in the R&D section to find out about the technical capabilities of the Goa'uld and maybe copy the system that could be of use. The Goa'uld shields for example looked quite promising.
On of the largest pieces of derbies was a Ha'tak that was to seventy percent intact with mostly superficial damages.
"Look at this, Sarge," a technician said and nudged the corpse of a Jaffa with his foot.
He and a few others were on an EVA on the Ha'tak and looking through the ship. The Sarge in question shook his head.
"You get hat when you don't have real blast doors."
The Sarge reached up to the radio controller of his EVA suit and changed to the long range radio.
"Yo, can we finally get some power back online?"
"Sorry, Sarge," a voice came over the radio," But I can't do anything. I simply can't understand these systems. I've never seen anything like this before."
"Than think of something, Scotty," the Sarge said with a sigh," We need to get this thing back to Liberty."
"Why not tow it there?"
The Sarge snorted.
"I want to see you trying to get the Captain of a warship to tow something. Not in this life."
"Sarge," came the voice of the first technician again and he waved the Sarge to the door he was standing in front of," What the hell is that?"
The Sarge got to the technician and looked into the room. In the middle, half leaned against a bulkhead was a large ring of maybe six meters diameter. In front of it stood a large object that seemed to be part of the ring, smashed by a large beam that fell down on it.
"I got no fuckin' idea."

Jack O'Neill looked at the scene in front of him.
"Well, I guess Dolly Parton can pack her things in that department," he said and Daniel shook his head, chuckling a bit.
Many people had gathered around a large beach volleyball field. The problem was that the field was more than thirty times the size of a normal field. And the players were also thirty times the size of a normal human, half of them women.
Kowen chuckled also. They had just finished busines with the Mayor of Liberty City and former members of SG-1 had wanted to see the Zentraedi Kowen and Thornton had mentioned. And going to the beach was the best thing to see some of the non-micronized Zentraedi.
"I had thought to get another reaction, but well..."
Jack flashed him a cocky grin.
"Hey, we blew up a star. This isn't all that strange."
He made a short pause.
"Okay, maybe it is..."
