Hogwarts, Oh My!: Dumbledore's not perfect? [Episode 121990]

by Arthur Hansen

A mother's love? Not what Dumbledore expected. Five years later.

"Get up! Get up, Harriet!" Aunt Petunia shouted as she banged on the door to the young girl's room.

Harriet rolled over. With a sigh, she sat up and pulled on a slightly natty bathrobe. For some reason, Uncle Vernon tried to get everything used for her. Even when it was for things that really had to be bought new!

Her eyes traveled over the room, noting the slightly worn furniture and dolls that she had. She quickly made her bed and combed her long hair that was trying to be wild today.

"Coming, Auntie!" Harriet called out. In just a few moments, she was downstairs helping her Aunt make breakfast. There wasn't a lot she could do, being only six, but she liked being able to help around the kitchen.

"Brush your hair!" Vernon shouted in his way of greeting.

"Yes Uncle!" Harriet called back cheerfully.

Everyone was soon sitting down and eating up. It was the holidays, nearly Harriet's birthday. Suddenly, there was a knocking at the door.

"Get the door, Dudley!" Vernon said over his newspaper.

"Make Harriet do it!" Dudley yelled back as he crammed more eggs down his throat.

"Get the door, Harriet!" her uncle commanded.

"Stay right where you are, young girl! You don't send a young girl to get the door in a nightrobe, Vernon! How many times must I tell you?" Petunia stood up and walked to the door. She opened the door to see a very strange sight for Privet Drive.

In her doorway stood a most remarkably odd man, wearing bright periwinkle robes and a hat that was pointedly sharp.

"Ah, Petunia! I understand there's an issue with young Harry?" Albus Dumbledore said in way of greetings.

"Er, except to say, she's still Harriet. I was reading that old letter you sent and it did say that the... whatever you did to her, would wear off before her third birthday." Petunia was not talking very loudly and was nervously watching for Vernon to intrude.

"How remarkable. I will have to take some measures. We can't have the Boy Who Lived being the Girl Who Was The Boy Who Lived." And with that, he trod right towards the kitchen. "Ah, there you are, Harry!" he said, beaming down at the young girl.

Harriet just looked up at the stranger. He was just so un-Dursley-ish it was shocking.

Vernon had hopped to his feet in anger. "How dare you come in here! We want nothing to do with you-?" He was cut off by nothing more than a mere rod of wood, probably not more than a foot long.

With a quick incantation from the wizard, Vernon crumpled to the ground with a loud snore. Albus smiled at Dudley and Harriet. "Never fear, he's just asleep. I'll wake him before I leave." He turned towards the young girl of six in front of him. "Now to fix this little problem."

He waved his wand and said a phrase when the whole house rocked with arcane magics and the roof lifted off six inches.
