???Ken: When Worlds Collide [Episode 122099]

by A Wandering Soul

Ranma continued his trek, leaving Nerima behind. As he walked, eager to find some way of being useful to his sister, he didn't notice the glowing portal that opened behind him, nor did he notice the man, wearing robes of black and holding an odd staff, that stepped out of it.

He did notice, however, when the man, who had eyes of green and hair of black, turned around, noticed him, and shouted out, "Hey, Ranma! What's up?"

Ranma whirled around and took a good look at the man. "Who the Hell are you?"

The man blinked, and then snapped his fingers. "Oh yeah! Sorry, I'm from another dimension. Got stuck teleporting from realm to realm. I know you from several different worlds, but since I can't tell if I'm hopping into a new realm or not, well . . . "

Ranma looked at the man, who was, in actuality, just a bit older than himself, sceptically. The man noticed this, and rolled his eyes. "Let me guess, this is an uncursed non-Nerima realm. Ran into one of those before, though you were definitely better looking then."

Ranma turned around, intent on ignoring the odd male, when he was suddenly hit with a torrent of water from behind. He whirled around to find the man pointing the staff at him, water dripping from one end.

As he gaped at this, the man laughed, "Now do you believe me?"

Ranma nodded in shock, and the boy plopped down beside him, "Come on! Sit down and tell me what's going on. You look as if you are looking for something . . . "

An hour later, the two males were in the exact same spot. Ranma was fuming, as the other boy had revealed that the water he was hit with earlier had a slight suggestive effect, causing him to spill out his life story with little coaxing. The other male was just amused.

"So, Mizuno Ranma . . . ironic name, all things considered. Tell you what: if you are really looking for a power up that will help you help your sister, I can give that to you, but there will be a price."

Ranma wasn't in a good mood, so he was definitely suspicious. "What do you mean, 'price'?"

The man sighed, "I know who you are, who you were, and who you are supposed to be. Your father, from the looks of things, decided to mess with something that erased him from this world, destabilizing your DNA, and allowing you to imprint on the Mizunos. They gave you a family, something you wouldn't have had otherwise, but the price was the inability to reach your true potential. However, the shadows of the old timeline are still here, so it wouldn't hurt that much if I made it so that you had the skills and knowledge that you would have originally had."

Ranma blinked, and then scowled, "If you think I'm going to give up my family and my life . . . "

"NEVER!" snapped his companion, making Ranma jump back. "You are so much happier in this world; not about to change that! What I'm going to do will do nothing to the fact that you are currently Mizuno Ranma. What will happen is that every scar, mental or physical, and every curse that you would have had up to now will come with what I give you: nothing more, nothing less. Even then, most can be cured, though it may take a while. Still, finding them will be your task, your price. Will you do it?"

Ranma sat there for a bit, thinking. Finally, he asked, "This won't be some instant power up or anything like that, will it?"

"Not really. You'll gain the skills and ability, but you will have to train your body up to manage it. That will happen at an accelerated pace, but you will still need to train to handle it."

After another moment of silence, Ranma . . .
