Rei stood in front of the door to the Anthro Diner. Through the glass, she could see numerous other Splicers, some in the restaurant's uniform, as well as a smattering of unSpliced dotted here and there. She almost continued on, when her eye was caught by a trio that sat in a booth that was nearly out of sight.
Emerald green hair, check. Tanned skin, check. Aura that doesn't quite match the body, ch... hunh? her mind hiccuped. She squinted her eyes. Much like an image in the Sacred Fire, the spiritual ghost-image around Setsuna was not the same as the body that she wore. She couldn't quite pin down what it was she saw, but it was certain that what was hidden was benign.
She threw a quick look at the woman's companions and immediately opened the door and entered. This was going to be fun...
Makoto murred. It was just so invigorating, having people admire her finally, after so long of having people ridicule her. People would gush at her striped pelt, sigh at the inverted coloration of her tail and want to wrap themselves in it's softness.
She opened her eyes to look at her tablemates. Hotaru was looking at her with her head tilted in a canine way that fairly screamed, "What's that?" Setsuna was just raising a mug of tea, her eyes twinkling ever so slightly.
"Hey, there, what's uRRRMPH!" she began, before she was surrounded by mobile, ermine-soft fur. All her eyes could see was strands of gold. She began to panic, before a soft, purring voice whispered into her ear.
"Hello, skunky," the person speaking used dulcet tones as smooth as honey. "You are just so squeezable and you have such a pretty pattern to your fur."
She was just about to try and shove away the fur surrounding her, when it pulled away. She glanced over at the new person, trying to figure them out.
The fox-Spliced woman met her gaze with a pair of sparkling lavender eyes. She looked the woman over, admitting that the woman's choice of DNA was somehow fitting. The ruby hair and the way her tails seemed to have a mind of their own... Hold on, tails, as in plural? Yes; at least five, maybe more.
The Vixen-girl grinned at Hotaru. "You're cute as well, wolfie," she hummed as she ran a dark-gloved hand/paw perfectly across the smaller girl's cheek Distractedly, the wolf-girl murred and leaned into the caress.
Setsuna set down her mug and gave the Vixen-girl a good once over, her arched eyebrow a clear statement of surprise. "I would have thought you would have just taken a simple fox Splice and not done a kitsune,... Rei," she stated with a slight chuckle. "Maybe you aren't quite as staid as I thought."
There was a shocked silence that held for about five seconds, before the other two girls yelped, "REI?!?"
The spirit-fox/fire-maiden sulked, her tails twisting around each other and curling into knots. "How did you know?" she asked, then slapped her forehead with a hand/paw. "Never mind."
Hotaru was vibrating in excitement, her tail beating a quick 'rat-a-tat' against the vinyl cushions. "Oh, wow," she gushed, sparkle-eyed. "You really picked a pretty splice! But how'd you get the bright red hair?"
The ruby-maned fox-girl sighed. "Dennis said he used modified fox," she admitted, then smiled. "But you, you've got a wolf Splice. I guess you don't get tired as much, huh?"
The furry embodiment of the powers of Destruction giggled. "Nope," she chortled, then drooped. "But they," she growled softly, "think I'm a monster."
Rei felt her hackles rise. "Danm them," she growled.
Setsuna waved a hand negligently. "They're being given faulty information," she assured her furry table-mates. "Right now, they're searching in another district. Tomobiki, I think."
Makoto began to sputter in laughter. "Those two, there?" she gasped out. The other two girls joined her in her mirth.
Setsuna merely smiled thinly, as she fingered the Saturn Holo-mask Pen.
