Her solution had been simple, invite Shinji over to her apartment. The seclusion would ease the process, as would that fact that it was both not an unusual request for one classmate to invite another to come to his or her place of residence, and it is would also be far easier than getting Shinji to go to a love hotel. He was far to shy and unsure of himself to ever enter any of those garishly decorate pleasure palaces.
Just inviting him though, would not have been enough. Rei was very aware that by most standards her apartment was disgusting, and absolutely unsuitable as a romantic setting. She had spent the entire night putting her apartment into order and cleaning. She had scrubbed the floors, replaced the linins, and made sure everything was clean and in absolute order. While still sparse, it was no longer a disgusting mess.
“Pilot Ikari,” Rei stated as she saw the target of her plan walk into view, “I would like a moment of your time.”
“Ah, okay… The boy blinked, and glanced back to Rei. “So… ah… how may I help you?”
“I would like to invite you over to my apartment, tonight,” Rei stated.
Shinji blushed. “Err… ah… why?”
She though for a moment, and a sudden flash of inspiration struck her. Shinji cooked for his household.
“I would like you to show me how to cook a meal.”
“Sure, I guess. Would it be alright if Misato came?”
“NO!”
Shinji blinked surprised at her outburst. “…okay. When do you want me over.”
Rei paused. If she asked him to come over later she would have time to stop by a department store and buy items to increase the chances of a successful coupling, such a dress that was not a school uniform, new sheets to replace her no bloody but still somewhat thread bear linens, a CD player with a selection of slow paced ‘mood’ music, and honestly, cooking equipment. It would be expensive, be she had been on the Nerv payrole most of her life, and she spent virtually nothing. She had the money.
It would be tight, but with proper scheduling and a basic agenda, which she could plan during class, she could acquire and prepare before he arrived.
“Eight ‘o clock.” She stated.
“That’s kinda late.”
“I am needed for tests on Unit 0. It is the soonest I’ll be available,” she lied.
Shinji nodded. “Oh… you want me to get groceries?”
“Yes, that would be helpful”
Shinji nodded. “Okay… we better get going or we’ll be late!”
Rei nodded and began walking towards the school. A blush came to her face as she though about Shinji becoming one with her, for real, and not just in her imagination.
She dwelled on that though, and then blinked for a moment. That was strange. She felt herself becoming lubricated, but it was not nearly the correct time.
Rei shrugged it off, and continued to school, already planning her shopping agenda.
