Rei was satisfied with her deception. Subterfuge did not normally come easy to her, but she had studied the commander's actions and thought that this particular untruth incorporated many of the features of a successful guile. There were elements of truth in it. And it was a generally believable pretext.
Shinji was well proud of his culinary skills. In fact they were one the few things that he actually appeared to take pride in. He would want to belive in her wanting to learn to cook.
She had also arrived at the conclusion, that a romantic dinner was a standard precursor to a possible intimate encounter. This would make the transition easier.
This was why Rei was now shopping for the supplies of what she thought would constitute a romantic meal.
Rei was inspecting the candles in her hands. Inadequate lightening and fire hazards appeared to be major parts of a suitable setting.
One was shaped in an unmistakable if overdimensionised phallic form while the other was an artfully stylized representation of a nude female body. She decided that both would help to set the right mood and decided to add them to her shopping bag. The former for her side of the table and the other one for Pilot Ikari.
The person behind the counter was eyeing her varily, but she had earlier put him in his place when he had tried to keep her out of the premise based on her age. Simply showing him her NERV-ID and explaining that she was here in official capacity had sufficed to convince him. That and a reminder about what would happen to people who were found guilty of sabotaging or hindering NERV's fight against the angels.
Everything she knew about intimidating people she had learned from the commander.
Really what did he think, that the rules made up by the owners of this "Eric'c Erotic Emporium" would take precedence over the needs of the pilots?
Rei had already filled most of her shopping list earlier from NERV stores which included a small variety of foodstuff and even a small portable kitchenette that would fit in her apartment.
A spice shop not far from her quarters had allowed her to stock up on some of the ingredients suggested in her manual for lowering inhibitions and raising sexual stamina. She intended to subtly insert some of them in the cooking process if it became necessary.
Now all that was left was to purchase miscellaneous items to serve as decorations and set the mood. Rei was planning to have intercourse and a sex-shop was the logical place to purchase the necessary paraphernalia.
They even had a clothing section. Rei had rarely worn clothing other than her plugsuits or school uniforms, but even someone as inexperienced as her in fashion could tell that these were designed with the correct purpose in mind.
There were not many selections in her size, but she finally found several items that would fit her and would hopefully raise pilot Ikari's interest in copulation.
As she made her rounds through the shop she inspected many of the other offered wares. Some were familiar to her from her manual and the others were easily identifiable on a form follows function basis. Others again were a mystery to her for now, but had intriguing names and descriptions on their packaging.
The planned meeting with pilot Ikari was a plain one and the wares of the shop would not be necessary for it. But she made a mental note, to return here when it became time to obtain supplies for the more advanced sessions.
She did buy a more luxurious version of her tool though. It might not be her primary objective in this undertaking to bring herself pleasure, but after the events of last night she owed it to herself to investigate the associated phenomena further, if only to become more familiar with them and less likely to be overwhelmed by those unknown sensations at a critical moment.
With a purposeful stride she finally marched towards the counter to ring up her purchase.
