She had hidden herself when he'd gone off to use the bathroom, using her small frame and normally quiet nature to advantage.

Now she could hardly believe her ears and looking through the crack in the closet door, she was having trouble believing what she was seeing.

"You have done well, Ranma Saotome," said the glowing light in the display. "Now the price must be paid."

"Hotaru's been my only friend, now that she's safe - yeah." Ranma wheeled his chair around, hitting another set of switches. "So long as she doesn't get hurt - I'll do what I can, as I promised."

"Always nice when someone keeps their promises to deities, you'd be surprised how many people make 'foxhole conversions' and then renege," said the woman's voice flowing from the light. "Ahem. Might as well at least touch base with the forms."

"Why bother?" asked Ranma. "We both know the basics."

"Ah ah ah," chided the light. "This is the undertaking of a big event and things will really begin changing now. Once this happens, my will and power will be established on Earth to a degree it never has previously."

"True, I suppose," said Ranma, sighing. "Okay."

"I. AM. BASTET. EMPRESS OF CATS. PATRON OF MOTHERS. MISTRESS OF THE NIGHT."

"You might want to drop that last title, some gal named Elvira's got a copyright on it," said Ranma.

"Oh. Well, I've got enough titles as it is. So we'll just mark down that I got through the etcetera etcetera, shall we?"

"Sounds good ta me," said Ranma.

"So, ahem, Ranma - as my mortal anchor, I bequeath to thee THIS."

Plop!

"A rifle?" asked Ranma.

"It's based on the one in that UFO Princess Valkyrie video you sent me," said the golden light.

"Not THAT one," said Ranma, a little alarmed.

"Of course that one," said the light. "You ready to hear what this little kitty can do?"

"Turn normal girls into catgirls?" asked Ranma.

"Hah hah," said the light. "More than that! It -"

• is just like the one in UFO Princess Valkyrie. One zap and instant cute catgirl maid who will be loyal to Bastet (sort of, more or less) and therefore her avatar Ranma.
• is even better. One zap and they become completely healthy, attractive, busty and well equipped for eventual motherhood, superhumanly strong and fast and with more extras than you can shake a cat-toy at."
• doesn't do a thing to girls. When you shoot guys with it though - they become 100% healthy, well hung, major studly, catBOYS."
• does something else!
