"Ranma," Brianna said. "Go to school."
"#$@#$," Lydia snapped. The other two were-rats nervously came out of the hole in response to Brianna's gesturing finger.
"Hai, Okaasan," Ranma said, falling into Japanese in her confusion. She hurried along through into the building for a boring day of classes. Meanwhile one of the school system police officers stepped out of his car and approached the scene.
"Is something wrong here Miss Diggers?" the policeman asked.
"Oh nothing," Brianna said cheerfully. "I just need to talk to these kids about using profanity around my daughter." Every adult within earshot of that comment stopped cold and stared at Brianna.
"What?" Brianna asked, looking around blankly. "I adopted her..."
"But legally..." the policeman said.
"Yes, yes," Brianna sighed. "My parents are helping me out, but I'm raising her."
"I pity the kid," Lydia muttered.
"Anyway," Brianna said. "I'll just escort these three away from the ears of children that shouldn't be hearing certain vocabulary."
"Ahh what the #$@@#$ do I care about their $#%@&% vocabulary," Lydia demanded. "You half-breed lab-freak!!"
That was rather a poor choice of words. Especially among people that liked Brianna.
"Carry on, Miss Diggers," the officer said as the rats were faced with the true Gaze of Doom. The one inherited from down from her mother Julia Diggers.

"Ewwww," Moisha moaned. "That was disgusting!!"
"Why did she get us too?" Romeo asked. "We didn't say anything." Lydia opened her mouth and both of the rats shushed.
"Oh, she's out of ##$$#% soap you #%$^%@ coOWWWWOWWOOWOWOWOWOWOW!! You're gonna $%$#$# pull me ear off you $$%@#@!!" Lydia complained as she was dragged off by an irate somewhat cat girl.
"It'll grow back," Brianna snapped. "You two! Back to work!"
Gar, in human form, wandered onto the scene and blinked for a moment before walking up to the two wererats and the building they were apparently building.
"Wow, we're not the only ones being forced to do manual labor," Gar said.
"You mean she's got other people?" Romeo asked wide-eyed.
"No, I'm one of her mother's students," Gar said. "And well, we...did something stupid a few days ago that sort of...destroyed part of her house...and she's making us build a training hall with just our off-hands. Not as bad as Britanny got though," he sort of laughed at that. The rats blinked and smirked.
"Like, what did she do?" Moisha asked.
"Her mother gave her this thing called a credit card..." Gar said. The rats' jaws dropped.
"She...GAVE...her daughter, Britanny 'Spendswift' Diggers, a credit card?" Romeo asked.
"Strange, that was what Gina said," Gar said, scratching his head. "Anyway, Britanny has to build a pyramid by hand now." At this the rats started laughing hysterically. "So anyway, what did you guys do."
"We accidentally almost got her killed," Romeo said.
"Well, I don't see how that's a problem," Gar said. "Given the Diggers' lives that happens alot."
"Apparently she, like, lost her payment, or some junk, from the leprechauns because of us," Moisha said. Gar flinched at that.
"That could do it, possibly," Gar said.
"Then Lydia cursed in front of her daughter," Romeo said. Knowing Brianna's enthusiasm for any task, this caused Gar to flinch again. "And called Brianna a..."
"'Half-breed lab-freak,'" Moisha finished. Gar flinched again.
"What are you building?" Gar asked, trying to make sense of the beginnings of what they were working on.
"A danger town," Romeo said. "So she can practice urban combat, and room-to-room and such like."
"And the collars?" Gar asked.
"Well if we go too far from a certain point," Romeo said.
"We...like...fry," Moisha said. Gar winced sympathetically, most lycanthropes were trained similarly, with things that would be lethal to a human.
"Ouch..." Gar said. "You know, if you were in human form, you'd be stronger...anyway, I gotta go back to work...we're almost finished with our punishment, so, later." Gar stretched, shifted to hybrid form and walked off. He didn't notice the stricken look on Moisha and Romeo's faces.

Meanwhile, in class.
"Ummm, Ranma," the teacher said. "I understand that YOU know the answer, but please give some of the other students a chance to answer." Ranma blinked for a moment.
"Uh, why?" Ranma asked honestly.
