Contrary Parents: Birds do it. Bees do it. Even educated fleas do it! [Episode 124383]

by N F R

After Ranma had left the sisters, Akane asked, "Kasumi? How DO birds do it, anyway?"

"Very fast! And high in the air." a smirking Nabiki replied. "Sometimes in trees!"

"I mean is it an in vitro fertilization, like in mammals, or is it after the eggs are laid, like fish?"

"I believe it's in vitro. At least I think I've heard about the hens getting pounced on by the cocks."

Akane's eyes opened to the size of saucers, before returning to normal. "Oh. You meant male birds."

"You have way too vivid an imagination, sis."

"And why do we care what happens to bees, anyway? When they told us that bit, they never mentioned one queen having thousands of eggs by a variety of male bees, while thousands of sexless bees toiled to maintain the hive..."

"They didn't want to give you ideas."

Akane endeavored to ignore Nabiki. "They just talked about how the bees carried pollen from flower to flower! Why are they likening human sexuality to a bunch of hermaphroditic vegetables enticing a third party to carry their seed to each other, using scent to attract the bees? Like some kind of perfumed sperm diner-delivery service?"

"It could have been worse. Apparently, daddy was found under a gooseberry bush."

"You're kidding. Aren't you?"

"Well, he was born in 1955."

"Not a good year for gooseberries!"
